Leicester City - Premier League
Last night Leicester went 16 points clear of 3rd with 7 games to play and could confirm promotion on Friday against Sheffield Wednesday. They were relegated back in 2002, so it is has been a long wait before being back in the PL.
To view the link you have to Register or Login So how will they do? They seem to have a good squad and manager in Nigel Pearson. Good luck to them, although if we stay up, I look forward to us taking 6 points off them |

There are lessons from all three promoted clubs last season.
Credit to the owners for giving Pearson the time to get them up. If they continue to support him, like Hull has supported Bruce, they will do well, but if they get ideas above their station, like Cardiff, then they will go straight back down. However, if they find Pearson can't cope like Holloway, they will be very lucky to find a replacement who can save their season like what we have done.

They'll need to make a few additions but the gap between the top of the Championship and the bottom half of the Premier League is nothing.

I think Leicester are on paper weaker than all 3 teams that were promoted last season.
They have benefited from historical investment, a good manager and most importantly stability. They have perhaps 3/4 players you would expect to be good enough at this level. Burnley are probably 7/8 players away from being good enough to survive. Their manager has no premier league experience and they have limited financial resources. They will surely be favourites for relegation. I think we want Derby, Reading or even better a JW inspired Ipswich to win the play offs as they would be the weakest team from the likely play off participants. QPR could obviously invest to stay up (not guaranteed to work of course) as could Forest. Wigan are well set with a team already capable of competing well in the lower reaches of the PL |

Fair play to them - they're clearly the best in that division. Securing promotion early should help them plan more effecitvely and identify those players that they need to get in.

Ipswich may be pretty weak player wise but I think they have the best manager in the championship at the moment regarding premier league know how.

Their squad like most Championship sides who get promoted is spred amongst players who should do ok in the PL, others who will surprise and a lot who simply are not good enough for that level. Schmeichel was always going to be playing PL football next season, now it is likely to be with Leicester but he is out of contract, Morgan to me is their only defender who i think is definately good enough for this level now. They have a midfield covered in players who are very good championship players but how many will make the step up? Nugent, Vardy, Knockaert, Wood, are they going to be regular scorers in the PL? Think Leicester will be spending yet more millions in the summer revamping their squad, luck them for having owners prepared to lose hundreds of millions of pounds! |

Well done to Leicester - decent set of fans there.
You'd have to say they'd have at least as good a chance of us of making a fist of it back in the top flight.

Thought it might meet some opposition. For me Cardiff were stronger in almost every position last season than Leicester's current side.
We had Zaha and Murray - outstanding players at Championship level. Not sure Leicester have that 'x factor'. Perhaps you could argue they're stronger on paper than Hull. I'm basing this assesment on the rather crude comparison of player quality. I accept Leicester have a good manager and are a very solid and well organised unit. They have proven themselves to be a very impressive team. But individually they are average and will need significant investmemt. |

I would say Burnley only have Ings and maybe Heaton who you would assume are PL ready. |
