Lets all Guffaw at the Gunners ( Arsenal's delusional grandeur )
Arsenal just got slaughtered by an off form team that couldn't buy a win for love nor money recently.
Wenger is blaming the referee as usual. Arsenal - finished 4th in the League table in 6 the recent 9 seasons....and yet they still bang on about being a world class club with elite aspirations. And so, when ManUre, Chelscum and Liverpool all play below par...do Arsenal glide effortlessly into the Prem topspot ? Nope, we leave that honour to some small club nobody knows. Silverware ? note for gunner fans, the FA cup has been won in recent years by Portsmouth, Wigan etc with the runners up including Hull, Villa and Milwall...ie a mickey mouse competition only slightly better than the Johnson Paints trophy. Arsenal : silent stadium , empty trophy cabinet ( since the airing of the final episode of 'Friends' ) , not really a big club, not a small club, ....as far as Shakesperean silverware chase goes..."I do follow here in the chase not like a hound that hunts, but one that fills up the cry" To view the link you have to Register or Login

Happy enough to see them lose today as the most interesting thing about the club comes to the forefront, which is the face and attitude of Arsene on the touchline and his complaints in the post match interview

Surely the FA Cup is a bit more than 'only slightly better than the Johnson Paints trophy'? And it's all well and good to name a few smaller clubs to make finals appearances in your list, but since Millwall were runner ups (which was 11 years ago), Man Utd (3), Liverpool (2), Chelsea (4), Man City (2) and Everton have all either won or been runner up.

I don't get the OP's logic. He's implying that the FA cup isn't worth bothering about (wrong), but also that if we did reach the final or heaven forbid win it, we would be making a further contribution to its demise seeing as we are in a similar 'mickey mouse' category as some of the team's mentioned.

Fvcking hate them as much as Man U. Not even a football club, just a brand, filled with fans who expect to win every game, and players (not even players, they're more like a boy band) who wear shirts so tight you can see their nipples. Still think they'll win the league though.

I'd take an FA Cup win any day thanks. I suspect no-one who was at Wembley in 1990 would think anything other than we have unfinished business in that competition.

Their one chance of winning it and you know they'll screw it up.

I just had to check the league table, as I was expecting some Chelsea-esque demise based on the OP, only to find them 2nd and 2 points of the top of the table.
And I'd love an FA Cup win |

Sure the FA cup may be nice.......but.....
Could you imagine Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Paris Saint Germ going and winning their local equivalent of the FA cup and going on to win NOTHING ELSE for a dozen years or so ? Arsenal, are to football what low alcohol beer is to a night out. Disappointing and lacking in flavour.

These threads are moronic and make us look bitter, obsessed and small time.
Arsenal, Chelsea, man Utd, etc will have ups and downs and lose games, that's the beauty of the premierleague in that anyone can beat anyone. These teams have won the league, cups, European silverwear etc and whereas there is a lot to mock about their lack of soul, "corporateness" etc, there really isn't much to laugh about when you look at their trophy cupboards. And although I realise I have now contributed to this shit Nigel-fest, I will bow out of this thread and bid you all adieu. |

Should have finished at the wankers thread, which is always a joy. Though the Chelsea one is rather amusing thus season too.

To me, all other teams are wankers. Some more than others but all still wankers

I fully agree, Arsenal are like a smug wanker admiring themselves in the mirror at the same time.

What pis*ed me off watching last night is how come they never put in an abject performance like that against us?! They always seem to be on it.
As far as i'm concerned, my Premier League Palace experience this time around won't be complete until we've done them - and the wa*kers come to that. Have to say, i'd rather see them win the league than Man City. Obviously rather see us , but if, as you'd expect, it turns into a two horse race; then Arse over that bunch of Mancunian mercenaries any day.

Before the Saints match, Man City were 2-1 for the title and arse evens. I had a lump on Man City.

The thing I find odd about Arsenal is how they always seem to put pressure on themselves. As soon as they win one game against a top side, one of their players (Cech, this time) will be quoted in the press as saying they can go on and win the league. This is frequently followed up by an away defeat to a club from the lower half of the table.

Sure it may be a record low points tally, but wouldn't that just be indicative of how difficult the league is this season? If anything, the team that wins it this season has done a better job than Chelsea last season or Man City the season before IMO.
