Admittedly Chelsea are unlikely to get there

Despite usually flopping in Europe, England has always had the strongest top 6 for me, so I'd back lots of English teams to make it to this stage above other countries. Compare our teams in 4th-6th to other countries- Liverpool and Man United vs Sevilla and Sociedad, Hoffenheim and Koln, Roma and Lazio etc. The point is that since Fergie's Man United, there hasn't been an English superpower good enough to regulary challenge Barca, Bayern and Real, its fine making up the numbers but an English side has to be good enough to go all the way by beating at least one of that lot. This season? Man City could, personally have them as 4th favourites (behind Bayern only because of the Heynckes factor.) Liverpool on their day can tear apart anyone on the counter, and for that reason would be my 5th favourites. (This is all assuming round of 16 results go as we all expect, which to be fair they probably won't). The other English teams, personally I don't think they're up to it. I've been wrong before though, and regardless of what happens, the next three months will be very interesting.

Lyon 0:0 Villareal
It's tight and there aren't many chances. |

Thats the Europa league as well? If so im watching FC København 1 - 2 Atletico Madrid. Pretty decent game, not sure Madrid are enjoying the cold winter snow we have right now

Not sure the top 6 being stronger in England is supported by recent evidence. This season and going forward maybe. Maybe not.

I’m speaking purely on paper. Sevilla’s Europa league winning run was incredible, but there’s no doubt in my mind that all this time the likes of Man United and Liverpool have had better players- they’ve just flopped in typical English style.

A bloke on here said that Thiago Alcantara is average Deep playmakers/ pivots seem to go a bit under-appreciated, I suppose because their game can’t be measured in goal and assist stats.

What the fook is Kevin Campbell wearing on ITV? Hoddle looks like a Geography teacher, but Campbell is something else. Like a snooker player at a gay wedding or something.

"Fergie" is second only to "Sir Alex" as the worst thing to call Ferguson. I'll accept baconface.

God I hope that doesn't catch on at Palace! Oh and the American commentator kept calling AM "Athlety" - not sure if that was something he had made up, or it's real. |
