Not clear and obvious offside - VAR proving useless yet again!

VAR is a total nonsense. Can't look at the handball in the box by Smalling, which was far clearer than the offside it did review.

Could do with the w@nkers taking Hudders to a replay.
The Br*ghton progress needs to end in the QFs, we can't chance them having a day or two out at new Wembley. Hope they get City away from the draw and get destroyed! Other than that, chuffed with this set of results so far. Another match Swansea don't want or need, Saints are more of a threat to our survival than WBA, McCarthy had a good game. If the swine weren't still in the competition this season, I'd be playing even less attention to it. Gawd bless Rochdale! |

The player was clearly and obviously offside and the VAR got the decision correct. Don't be fooled by the likes of Savage.

If it was clear and obvious the linesman would have flagged.

If the exact same incident occured in a game without VAR there's no chance it would result in a disallowed goal so until every game is officiated under VAR the system is fundamentally unfair and means there is no integrity.

I'm listening on 5Live. Steve McLaren is the 'expert summariser'. I cannot believe that the main commentator will last 90 minutes without calling out McLaren for talking complete & utter bollocks.

This can never happen in the FA Cup by the way because most games are at grounds without VAR capability.

If they are going to use crooked lines in VAR they should save time and money and continue using crooked officials.

It just feels like it’s a little too early for VAR in terms of technology. It’s just not swift enough right now.
I think one day in the future they’ll be some kind of drone like device that will be able to track every player’s exact position at anytime to instantly assess via a computer decisions like offside, if the ball is out of play, who was last player to touch it or whether a player was fouled inside or outside the box.

Yes I was going to say GPS System. I don’t think they’ve invented something small enough yet that wouldn’t be intrusive. Can you imagine if they suggest GPS implants for all players? That would raise quite an interesting moral debate.

To be honest, they still haven't come up with a coherent and consistent way of defining phases or active players (let alone deliberate handball) so you can't program a computer to do it.
