Have the the club started to provide any funding? It irritates me every time I see something on the club website or facebook about the ladies team knowing they offer them nothing yet happy steal all the glory from their success. They can easily provide the finances.

Donít know 100% how CPLFC operates, but from my limited knowledge, the main CPFC have certainly helped to finance the the Ladies to a degree, as Steve Browett has sponsored the Ladies in the past through Farr Vintners, as well the various bits of help with coaching and kit that has been ongoing for several years now.

Of course, with the FA restructuring the womenís game next season on far more stricter criteria, CPLFC will need far more serious backing to hope to compete at a higher level, as the current finances and club facilities will simply not support the Palace Ladies to be able to comply with the demanding regulations that have been set for the restructured Leagues as of next season.

It goes without saying that the main club will almost certainly need Premier League finances in order to help with funding what will be a professional Ladies club rather that the mainly amatuer and voluntary organisation in has been up to now.

Itís also vital that more Palace fans turn up than is currently the case as the the hardy few that do go to Bromley FC to watch CPLFC are usually in the low hundreds, mainly season ticket holders (which means they donít have to pay to enter) and many travel from much further out than Bromley, despite the fact that several thousand regulars for the main CPFC travel from the Borough of Bromley to Selhurst.

There needs to be a major effort to get the numbers paying at the turnstiles into more fasible numbers to make this a viable long term project, itís that brutal in my opinion as a fairly regular follower of CPLFC.

Well done ladies.
Just looking at the photos on the official site, I'd missed that Carshalton had signed the Pie Man keeper from Sutton.

I think that’s a bit harsh, as I’m sure most people that were at Carshalton yesterday will agree that their ‘keeper made plenty of great saves in a match that Palace dominated.

The Carshalton keeper and their overworked defence kept Palace out till late in
the first half and the majority of goals came in the second half with debutant Amy Green getting two, with Ellie Stenning, Gemma Bryan and Ciara Sharwood adding to the solitary strike from Ellie Bailles in the 1st half.

I think it’s fair to say their keeper was the main reason the score was not double the six goal margin.

Apparently the win sends CPLFC into the semi-final of the County Cup where we face QPR, but not until February - so the focus is back on the League next Sunday, where we face last season’s nemesis, Cardiff City, who did the double over Palace, but seem considerably weaker this season after a number of player departures - so perhaps a chance for revenge and Palace to start clawing their way back into contention with two games in hand but 8 points off leaders Charlton with all still to play for.

A hard fought win for the Palace Ladies, 2-0, with a goal in each half, the first from Haydock and the second from Gemma Bryan, perhaps a tougher game than it should have been as there were several more decent chances and the longer it stayed at 1-0, Cardiff had their moments when an equaliser looked possible.

Palace are in 4th place, but are within 3 pts of second place now, but still 8 pts off leaders Charlton, who had a huge 12-0 win over Swindon today, but are still catchable if Palace hold their nerve and keep the wins coming.

Well played CPLFC.

Quick questions on next week's game...is it at home, and how much does it cost to get in?

Thinking of taking my 2 young daughters to go and watch, 7 year old is starting to like football, 4 year old thinks football is just for boys. Want to show her that its OK for girls to like and play football as well.

Imo youíll never find a better way to introduce your girls to football as ladies football is the game at its purist level. £4 if your not a Palace ST holder and 99% certain -16ís are free. From experience Itíll cost you more once they spot the Jellybean machine by the bar. Enjoy it really is idea for families .

Now for the really good news.

Eagles Looking To Take Next Step

Palace Ladies have confirmed their intention to apply for any available Women's Super League place for the 2018-19 season. Whilst the bid would ideally come through the retained promotion place, The Eagles will be looking to ensure that any opportunity available to them is explored.

The FA is renewing the status and licences for it's WSL members, moving the top tier towards a fully professional and full-time environment. This will be supported by a second tier, akin to the current WSL2, although will be increasing the criteria in order that a strong and sustainable pathway exists, not only domestically, but importantly, for the national game.

Speaking to Palace Ladies Chairman, Richard Spokes, it is clear that the next few months will be a busy, exciting and potentially nervous time

"The changes to the top of the women's game have certainly created a buzz and a fair amount of opinion. As is natural, the more we move towards a professional game, the more that it becomes more than just football - not least the financials. This is a huge step for the game, and particularly any club that has never played at that level. At Palace, we have worked very hard over the past seven years to build a club that, we hoped would, one day be able to hold it's own amongst the elite. This has been far from easy, and has relied on a massive amount of goodwill and belief. Through this development, we have seen our junior section strengthen and our first team move up through the provincial leagues to where we are now - close to the top of the FA Women's Premier League, and with The WSL in sight. "

The renewal of licences and changes to application criteria is likely to see significant changes to the look of the two leagues, with current second tier clubs able to apply for tier one status and some of the tier one clubs already announcing their inability or unwillingness to apply for the highest league status.

"At Palace, we are keen to remain realistic and build a structure that enables sustained growth and progression. Whilst the idea of our club having a full-time women's set-up is hugely appealing, we are keen to work our way there and be able to gain the place on merit and with a view to sustaining it."

Asked if there was a possibility that clubs without any real provenance at the higher levels in the women's game could "buy their way" to The WSL, The Chairman was keen to focus on the Palace situation.

"The situation is more about our position and not so much how others may look to exploit the opportunity. We are a club that is keen to be judged on our merits and justify our presence based on what we have achieved. Whilst it is true that the we may benefit from the opportunity to apply for a licence, outside of the natural promotion process, we feel that our previous and current form at this level demonstrates our credibility and credentials."

Asked as what the process now entails, Richard added,

" A lot! First of all, any non-WSL club must wait for the finalisation of the application process for the existing clubs. That deadline has now passed and it is now a case of the bids being reviewed and the successful clubs being mapped to the appropriate league. Following that, applications will be accepted from clubs outside of the current WSL, at which time, we hope to submit our application. We are currently working very hard with the hugely supportive management at CPFC, our partners such as Bromley FC and Utilita and ensuring that we are able to meet the strict criteria set by The FA. This process will see us work closely with The FA and WSL and see some significant changes to our club structure. Whether our application relates to being promoted or applying for any available licence in the new structure, the deadline is March 2018 and the clock is ticking!"

Clearly, the changes at the top of the domestic game will see plenty of differing views and a number of twists and turns, but anyone one who has seen or been a part of the Palace Ladies development over the past few years will know that no stone will be left unturned as the opportunity of the next step in the club history beckons.

The Palace Ladies website will keep fans posted as to the progress of the process and any updates
