Should he really be showing such obvious bias as a presenter though?

It was uncalled for and he was clearly just riding on the back of Savage's view from the other week.

It's not banter when no-one can respond to it. It's him influencing people's opinions on national television without allowing a counter argument.

At least on phone-ins you can call up and discuss the point, Lineker on MOTD thinks he's preaching on a soap box and that's not right or fair.

so bored of the 'banter' about Chamakh, particularly from Arsenal armchair fans at work. They always ask me sarcastically how he's getting on, then are suprised when I tell them 'actually he is doing very well, his hold up play and positioning are superb and you cannot fault his workrate. He just needs confidence and the right strike partner and he will really excel'

They just stare at me and mumble something about his hair and how he never scores.

Me and my good lady sat next to Mr Lineker at a comedy show pre-season and he was quite polite about Palace. Just reckoned they needed to buy a few players. Hansen is a miserable sod who means it though.

Me too. It looked like McShane clawed his bandage off while also stick his fingers into what was already a pretty mean gash. Wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional.

To be fair, Lineker does take the piss out of Hansen too. He made the joke about stuff "back when even Alan Hansen was still playing" twice last night. People take these guys far too seriously methinks. Their opinions aren't all that important.

re the bias thing.

I think talent/staff at the beeb and lots of companies have to put disclaimers on their social media saying it's personal comment.

So it's his views and he's ok to publish them, but still interesting he's deleted the tweets about us since yesterday.

Someone should just find and scan a picture of Hansen's face during the cup semi when Palace scored and he had a look of disbelief, shock and that he was about to burst into tears all on his face at once.

Funny they don't take the piss out of Liverpool though isn't it? Or any of the other big teams for that matter (Manchester United struggling at the start of this season?!).

No, they wouldn't want to offend their football mates, so they pick on the smaller teams they have no affiliation with. If that's your idea of 'banter' then fine, but just remember it's banter that we personally pay for out of our own pockets.

I'd much rather 'analysts' who could actually, you know, analyse the football, instead of spouting say what you see comments and unfunny jokes. Maybe that's just me.

Did it a few times to him. McShane knew what he was doing, force Chamakh off the pitch and it made his life easier from a defensive point of view.

Can't blame McShane, but a half decent ref would have noticed it and either given him a warning or shown him a yellow. It was always McShane's hand that removed the bandage.

His comments do not change the score each week. This week we were good. I hope we can pull ourselves up the table. Lineker is nearly at the end of his time on the telly to me.

The criticism of Chamakh (particularly by Savage) is boorish. There is a far more obvious target for their so called punditry in a player at Tottenham who cost £26,000,000 and in 11 games for them has the same amount of goals from open play as Chamakh has. Ignore his three penalties. Soldado has thus far been a huge flop for them and cost millions and millions more than Chamakh. He also does nowhere near the amount of work for the team Chamakh often does. Is MoTD and their pundits panning Soldado week in week out? Worst I've heard from them is that Tottenham aren't used to his playing style or not playing to his strengths yet.

None of it upsets me nor does it effect the results of the matches, but some of the criticism is lame and unresearched

To be fair to the "Never been to Highbury" gloryboy Arsenal shopper at my place when he signed he said to me "He's alright and he'll do well for you"

Honest view but I think Wilbraham would have contributed at least as much, if not more, than Chamakh. I know it must be a hard job playing up front in this palace team and no one can fault Chamakh's effort but for a player of his supposed pedigree we should be getting a lot more from him. He just seems to have zero confidence when he is anywhere near the box and I can only recall about two shots from him all season.

I thought Jerome made a noticeable difference yesterday. He was certainly up for it and he caused them a lot of problems. His movement and assist for the goal was excellent.

Actually they do - we just don't remember it because it isn't Palace. Early on in the season Lineker said something along the line of "tonight we've got action from all the top four this year...... and Manchester United as well"

People really are amazingly precious on this. And if they stuck to the football people would still complain - anyone saying Palace were favourites to go down eg is instantly slated on here "how dare they"

Ever since MOTD took Lineker on, it's been like a 6th form boy's club. I think someone, somewhere decided it was a bit too stuffy and wanted to copy the style of the more laid back, jokey football shows. Except those shows employed people capable of pulling off that kind of 'banter'. Shearer etc. just don't have that kind of charisma.

The football should be the star of the show. Show some decorum!

Compared to Sky's coverage of all games MOTD is piss poor.

If you want to be the flagship show for the Premiership then you should do your best to be the best.

I'd much rather have Chris Kamara and Ben Shepherd present MOTD with special guests. Goals on Sunday shows MOTD what it should be.
