The club has been a shambles this summer. We got what we deserved today. Manager out of his depth and very limited squad strengthening. Add that to a stupid change in formation when you don't have the players to play in it and it's hardly surprising.

His substitution of the Man U kid was mystifying. How did he expect that to change the game? What was the point of that?

We've come into this season with some serious talent in the squad: Zaha, Loftus-Cheek, Benteke, Townsend, Luka. Yet the manager's chosen formation manages to compromise all of them.

This way of playing is obsolete, football has evolved beyond allowing defenders time on the ball. Huge gaps behind the wing backs. Players who struggle to pass effectively passing around their own penalty box. Putting Wilf in the middle of all their defensive players.

But the fault starts at the top. The hubris of thinking that all that was needed was a foreign coach to change us into some kind of silky smooth passing team, changing Palace into something we are not, throwing out all of what makes the club good. Playing Russian roulette with the club's position in the Premier League and therefore it's finances. It is just so naive, especially after the calamity of 'putting the ball at risk' last season.

Last season all over again...at least that is how i feel right now. We dont have the players to play this way. What the f uvk did Parish think by hiring this guy after the shambles of trying the same under Pardew.

Baffled me, he should have taken Ward off at half time put timmy at rwb and Tomkins as a center half.

TFM was one of our better players today. He might not be properly match fit, but he may as well have stayed on today as the game was already lost when he came off. Wouldn't it have been better to put someone like Lokilo or Schlupp on to give us a different attacking option?
It has been said elsewhere, or claimed, that Andros turned up late and was benched as a result.

Our strengths are Zaha and Townsend taking on full backs and whipping in crosses for Benteke. From what I've seen so far including the pre season friendlies we have nullified all of them by the 3-4-3 system. Play to our strengths Frank!

At this point in time we are the worst team in the league.

Making up the numbers for a Liverpool love in tournament looks like preparation time well spent. I see WBA, who we confortably beat, got back to basics again and bored their way to a 1-0 victory.

I just listened to his post-match interviews, hoping to get some reasons for optimism, but it only made me more pessimistic. He was nonsensical at times, claiming we lost in the first 50 mins, and the lesson the players need to learn is the game is not 75 minutes but 93 or 98 minutes (completely irrelevant, and completely obvious). He also tried to make the case that when we were 2-0 down, we could have scored, and if we scored we would have scored again, and their final goal didn't factor into the equation. He did not take any ownership for the tactical mistake of playing RLC on the wing or his poor subs, or sticking with a formation that the players were not ready to execute. He basically said, Huddersfield played exactly how I expected them to and the players made poor decisions.

Ugh.
