West Ham
Think we'll have a beer somewhere central and then tube to Stratford before taking one DLR stop back to Pudding Mill - worked well last year. Will also try that post match. Where are people drinking pre match? Around London Bridge seems near enough yet far enough whilst still being accessible, if that makes sense.

Decent pubs in Highbury and Islington or Hackney central, then its just a short journey on the London overground to Hackney Wick avoiding the crappy one way walk from Stratford.

Lord Tredegar in Mile End then a cab to the ground - worked a treat last year.

We went to the Thomas Neale near Shadwell station last time. Short DLR journey to Pudding Mill Lane from there.

The bars and cafes down the canal on the Hackney side look quite reasonable.

Pubs for West Ham
Any ideas of pubs to drink at pre match tomorrow in general vicinity of the ground or somewhere else in East London? Feel like a few beers and a sing song might make the afternoon less painful!

Nothing near the ground, There are a fair few pubs in Stratford which are walkable but these are west ham boozers. There are a couple of places in hackney wick but may not be your cup of tea, Very hipster.
Better off drinking 3 or 4 stops away on the DLR or tube IMO. Then head to the athletics bowl from there. |

I was around the area a few weeks ago when they were playing at Man City, and went to Howling Hops and Beer Merchants out in Hackney Wick - it was only a 10 minute stroll to the ground from both of those, and whilst they had security on the doors, there didn't seem to be much checking of team going on - especially if you got there early!

Cheers all, thanks for the info. Was hoping for a pub with a sizable Palace contingent but seems unlikely. Best to try Hackney Wick by the sounds of it I think.

King Edward in Stratford is a nice old proper boozer. Also does good food.
There a micro brewery called Tap East in the Westfield that does a huge selection of beers. At Here East in the Olympic Park there's a few hipsterish bars and restaurants, but quite nice drinking by the canal. Or Number 90 bar in Hackney Wick.

Im going but not really looking forward to it as it’s the worst view in football. Last time they didnt serve beer at halftime aswell.

They won't let you into Westfield if you look anything remotely like a football fan on match days. As you come off the tube you will be herded away, with barriers across and masses of old bill and security to prevent you going into it.
