But you know, if you step back and consider football years ago, there have been different price levels for decades. It’s not new nor just modern Prem. It probably started decades ago when the grounds first built some seating. I guess before then everyone paid the same to stand? As seating became common and more desirable, then you have different pricing for different views. It’s the same for most sport (think of Wembley, varying from the club members up to the seats in the gods). Theatre, pop concerts and even cinema differentiate too. A tiered pricing system isn’t going to end. |

It is for me Yoda. Not the direction I want my club going in at all I'm afraid.

It's the hope that kills you mate. Well that and the fry up and 10 pints. Always dreamed of a big tight steep acoustic masterpiece with everyone close to the pitch and all paying less but with a big capacity. Seen how quiet and shit the same exact stand is at Brighton and Liverpool. Even allowing for the fact that we aren't them it's still going to ruin the atmosphere we have currently. Each to their own but this is the opposite of my socialist dream. I'll not pay a penny towards it. Must have given them thousands over the years, but I'm pretty stubborn. Will buy tickets off those who can't go instead.

But, not wishing to argue but genuinely interested, do you also think your trains should have identical carriages, offering identical seating, catering etc? |

Yes. Yes I do. Anyway, don't want to dominate the thread with my silly lefty ideologies. Plus my foods getting cold.

The only thing they have in common is wanting a train on time to take them from A to Z. But some will want the cheap and cheerful, perch on a seat (if poss!) and then get off the train after a few stops. Whereas others might be on your train for a much longer time, really want a good seat for that...maybe a table so they can work on their laptop, maybe buy a coffee or a snack if they’re travelling for a couple of hours. If you make all the carriages, catering etc first class standard and price all the tickets the same, you’ll be making the cheap and cheerful person pay more for stuff they don’t need. If you make all the carriages into the second class standard and price all the tickets the same, then that’s a poorer journey for the person who is travelling for hours, trying to work meanwhile and who was happy to pay a supplement for more service. |

Definitely. It's the modern football effect isn't it. And this bodge won't help in the slightest. What's 100 million divided by 8000? £12,500 a seat. Thats just wrong surely. Especially when you look at the state of the Arthur and the Whitehorse. Makes me angry just thinking about it.

But its not 100million divided by 8000. the estimate was between 60 and 100 million so you could equally say that it is 60 million divided by 13500 not 8000 which is £4,444.44!
Just goes to show you can make figures say what you want! Anyway, fair play to you for travelling that far so often, especially watching some of the dross we'ved served up over the years. I may not agree with you re the stand but I cannot fault your loyalty (or choice of team). |

Must admit a lot of people wind me up on that thread but i guess they are main standers and i guess i cant blame them for thinking about themselves first. I probably wind a few up myself to be fair. Its only half intentional
