Both Fulham and Watford are reduced allocations due to the size of the grounds and both are local games this is the main reason for the high points needed, wait and see how It is for other games and those less popular trips to places like the Manchesters and Everton

Every season ticket holder or member who wants a ticket for any games in Manchester or Liverpool or Newcastle should be able to get one. We didn’t sell any of these games out last season. Doubt Huddersfield will sell out this season. Southampton definitely won’t as its a night game and we usually struggle to sell out West Ham! Obviously all this might change if we were to do a Leicester this season though ....

Even though I don’t have a membership this year (yet) I expect I’ll be fine getting a ticket for Huddersfield which will be my first game of the season. I agree with your points, but still think the threshold shouldn’t be as high as it is for the likes of Fulham and Watford.

Person A is older, has been going for years and has 7,500 points. That person has a season ticket, but also does Brighton away and a couple of of other big away games.

Person B is a younger fan with a 1,500 points, who goes to 15 away games a year.

In ten years' time, Person A has 13,100 points (current number plus 10*st + 10 seasons of 3 games at 20 pts each). Person B has 11,000 points (current number plus 10*st + 10 seasons of 15 games at an average of 30 points each). Meanwhile, each season the club increases the banding for priority from by say 750 to account for another season of points, so today's top band moves from 5,000 to 12,500.

Result is that Person A still has priority despite the fact that for a decade Person B has been far more of a deserving away fan.

The reality is far worse than this of course, because in order to get tickets for 15 away games as part of the group and without anyone else risking missing out, person B actually needs to use person A's points, meaning that the gap grows.

Obviously retail points are ignored here.

The England supporters' club is a much better system. Only four years' of games are counted and only 70% of tickets go to those on the top of the list, with the rest distributed by ballot. It gives people a genuine chance to climb the list and ensures that current rather than historic loyalty is rewarded.

A final point - if you were starting your 5 year old out now, you wouldn't be able to do it, for the reasons above!
I think you’ve quoted an extreme example because in order for someone to be on 7,500 points now, they’ve been a very devoted fan for some time. I don’t know anyone on that, but if I did I’d say they’d earned it.

If the points system reset to 4 years then we’d have far too many fans in the categories so yes, something like a ballot would be necessary. That takes a lot of additional organising and staff time, eating into the Palace admin costs. I know the ‘big’ clubs run these, but they don’t have much choice given the size of their fanbase. Same goes for the England supporters club.

If Palace stay in the Prem for another 10 years and has to continue to run this points system, then I’d be very pleasantly surprised. Fan B going to all the home matches and 15 aways in the Prem still sounds great to me, in comparison to how most of us started as Palace fans!

I only used 7,500 as both me and my son have more than that, but I guess you are right that not too many will. I also happen to know someone with around 6000 points who doesn't travel away any more and hasn't for the last two seasons. This is fortunate as we can use his points to help my daughter out, but aside from cheating the system in the short term, it also means that he continues to pick up points for away tickets and the gap grows.

Overall I don't think the system is too bad, but I think they should keep the points more current by removing older years (possibly retaining the promotion season to recognise pre-PL fans) and then only count the last 2 or 3 seasons. Obviously the requirement for away games would reduce accordingly.

To be clear, I am in no way complaining about my daughter not getting tickets. She is fortunate. My comment is about the system and about making sure that young Palace fans are not disadvantaged more generally.

Ha! One gnome, but that was a present so no points. Almost all from games. Very rarely remember to get my card swiped at the bar!

End block only available now. A bit confusing as row numbers start with BB to LL and then A so mid way back is rows A-H. Would have bought online if I had realised but box office efficient and helpful.

Ten minute walk from the town centre, so plenty of options.

The ground is not far from the town centre. Looking at your location, if you've been to The Glades/Bromley on a Sunday then expect pretty much the same. (Except the divs there will be wearing Watford shirts instead of 'wall).

Line between Euston and Apsley is closed, meaning Euston is also closed as a whole. Replacement buses running from Harrow & Wealdstone, Bakerloo line also closed north of Queen’s Park I believe.

I’m driving and parking in Bushey. Watford Grammar would be a shout to park if you get there early enough. It’ll be busy because of this!
