Best mate is a Fulham season ticket holder and he received an email from the club last week regarding their upcoming away ties to Man. U. and Chelsea basically saying that those two clubs have decided to turn a blind eye to people standing in certain areas.
I would imagine that the email to our fans is something similar when it comes to our game at OT.

They did try to get us to sit in the away end at Old Trafford in previous games. Remember a midweek game just before the FA Cup Semi Final where they threatened people nowhere near the front rows with being thrown out if they continued to stand.
People basically sat down for 2-3mins then stood up again and the stewards gave up.

I think that happens everywhere, even at Palace. The stewards have to be seen to doing their job and getting people to sit, knowing full well they will stand again. They obviously can’t chuck everyone out so basically give up and laugh about it eventually. Seen it many a time in the Arthur Block Z. |

What’s the best way to get to the ground from Manc Piccadilly station? For the mancs last home match I checked National Rail enquires and the station right by the ground wasn’t open, it may have been a northern rail strike day, so is it easy by tram and what stop is best?

Tram from Piccadilly to either Trafford Bar/Pomona/Old Trafford

I've always not bothered with the tram and walked along the canal from Deansgate. 20 minute walk but not unpleasant. Not great if you need a number 2 though, as Bubbs will testify

I really wouldn't recommend walking from Piccadilly, it'll be at least an hour. If you're getting in early I'd get a tram towards Mediacity in Salford Quays where there are a few places to eat/drink and is a 15 minute walk from the ground. Generally popular with away fans.

In particular, a fair few tend to head towards Lime Bar which is a sports bar but there's also a craft beer place next door (Craft Brew).

I left 1 minute early last time I went, ran to cab rank thing near away section exit, jumped in a black cab and was back at station 505pm. Beat all the traffic just.

That was my thought. How far away from the ground would you have to walk if you stayed to the end though?

Quite far and you'll only be stuck in traffic forever anyway. They're also digging up a lot of roads between Old Trafford and the city so traffic is a slag at the best of times at the moment.
Another option to get back into town afterwards is to walk to Exhange Quay metrolink stop which is a 15 minute ish walk from the ground and is a lot quieter, the trams go from there to either Piccadilly Station or Piccadilly Gardens (few mins walk) and isn't on the Old Trafford line. |
