Yeh looked quite a nasty foul from Meyler.

I genuinely think we'll be a better side defensively with Jules back in the team so I hope he starts on Saturday and keeps his place.

It really shouldn't have taken an injury for him to regain his #1 spot though. Hennessey has been painfully poor for two seasons and should've been dropped months ago.

If Speroni does starts & messes up, at least we'll know we won't have to put up with own goal's mental Hennessey posts after he drowns to death in his own resultant spunk bubble.

Wayne probably just had a pedicure. Either that or the cast is to protect him from dropping a marsh mellow or something similar on it.

As much as I agree with the concerns over Hennessey I also remember the deterioration of Speroni's form which saw him replaced in the first place. He wasn't the Speroni that we knew and loved of previous years. He always had weaknesses but always had the edge on shot stopping that compensated for that. But as he lost that edge and the other weaknesses magnified it wasn't a good place. I can't see how he can have recovered that form. If he does play then his kicking from open play and dead ball will have a big impact on us. His lack of height at corners etc. will be a challenge too. If Hodgson thinks he is the best choice that that's fine. I will have my fingers crossed whoever plays TBH.
I agree with most of that. But I don't think we'll lose anything in terms of his lack of height for corners etc as you say as Hennessey is the worst keeper in the league for commanding his box. It staggers me that a 6 ft 6 keeper can be so pathetic in terms of coming off his line to catch or punch crosses. It should be one of his strengths.

Most money I've ever won on a football match though.

All day I was convinced we were losing 1-0. The couple of hundred quid I won didn't soften the blow.

People forget he wasn't much better against Man City the following game. In all his time at Man City Fabian Delph has scored 3 Premier League goals. 2 of them against us from outside the box

If Wonder Wayne is indeed injured then that means if Jules gets out of bed too quickly and hurts himself (not unheard of for a man rapidly approaching forty) we would have to put .......who in goal ? You could not make this up. In the early seventies comics (including the likes of Benny Hill) made jokes about Palace and "Big Mal". But they never had material like this to work with !!

Of course WH is not world class, but nothing about our club is, and he is not the main problem. We all love JS, but he's the past.
Worst comparison in the world.

Trying to post less in this thread now, but that is stupid.

We were so crap that night, but it's 0-0 without that dreadful mistake. That was a really long drive home on a school night

Speroni is nothing like as good as he was, but I'm not having the above shite. 'Always one for a flamboyant save'. 'Always glued to his goal line', 'never caught crosses'.

Garbage post.

Without Speroni we could well be in League Two, given the amount of ridiculous saves he made to keep us in the Championship when we were shit. He didn’t win POTY so many times through solely ‘ones for the camera’. Not forgetting the great saves at 0-0 in the play-off semis and final.

One bad performance at Southampton after not playing all season and suddenly he’s well past it and hey, he was never that good anyway.

You've just let everyone know that you never actually saw Julian play! HAHA.

This post is so pathetically inaccurate that it's actually funny.

Remember his heroics against West Brom before the Hillsbrough game where he made save after save after save. Brilliant goalkeeper.

Also if i remember correctly, Speroni was only 'dropped' because he picked up a hand injury in pre season and never got a look back in

Someone needs to make one of these as if the fella has just found out Hennessey is injured. Unfortunately my ICT skills are not up to it..

Hopefully Speroni starts and takes his chance and whilst we know hes not the future and his best days are behind him, his worst days aren't anywhere near as bad as WH.
You didn't see last seasons game V Chelsea then, when Hennessy made countless saves and earned MOM award, not to mention 3 points that most certainly helped to keep us up, or are you just keeping faith with your own bias agenda?
