Depends how fast they fall the spectre of negative equity could panic the BTLers.

Sounds pretty straight forward and clear:
To view the link you have to Register or Login Empty properties are a sin in this day and age, given the current levels of homelessness. |

I don't disagree. But having known some old people who went through several years of hell thanks to squatters, I am not that fond of the latter.

Its different if they are in it for the long haul and live in it. After all for most home owners the increase in value of their house isn't realisable.

Yes - and they won't be anywhere near as leveraged as BTL landlords with multiple properties. I just think negative equity is a horrible thing and many people buying were probably not planning to stay put for their whole mortgage term.

Just as most of the public still see through Corbyn's tax and spend approach? |

Outside of London & the South East I wouldn't be overly surprised if Labour were increasingly being seen as the party for an elite wealthy middle class. I'm really not sure how many of the issues they talk about resonate outside of London. Take zero hour contracts for example. In London (& among well off guardian readers), zero hour contracts are widely considered a blight on society, being used to artificially keep wages down. But if you're from a poorer part of the country, with high historic levels of unemployment, do you look around at the low unemployment rate and see it as a progressive measure getting more people into work who would otherwise be on the dole? Or put another way, if Labour ban zero hour contracts would this come across as an act of support or an attack on people living in Newport, Coventry Wakefield etc? |

Corbyn has always been a staunch leaver too. Your inlaws are consistent.

Mate of mine tells me the local Wilkinson's has just made pretty much everyone in shop on a contract longer than 16 hours redundant across almost the entire company. This is basically whats behind the "unemployment miracle", chop one good job in half for two bad jobs. |
