Despite Roy's, and Wilfs, expectations of some quality additions to the squad being crushed (most of us aren't surprised), it still felt that by keeping Roy and having a fit squad that we could get off to decent and settled start to a season, for once !

Losing Wilf will be unsettling and costly.

Truth is, no one on here knows the truth. No one actually knows for certain if he’s asked to leave or not. No one knows for certain the reasons he came home from pre season.

But what we know (almost certainly) is that he won’t be happy with the noises about lack of funds to strengthen the squad. He won’t want another relegation scrapping season. And why would he. He’s so much better than that. If the club don’t match his ambition why would he stay ? I wouldn’t.

You do know nothing has happened & there's still over a week left of the transfer window? Save your ire.

There was a rumour that his father was in a car accident. A rumour that was almost certainly confirmed by the picture of him Wilf posted on IG of him in a full leg cast. Plus his tweet thanking everyone for their support. I mean, someone could argue that it was some kind of cover up, but those people would be morons.

They really aren’t. They will get a small percentage, way less than silly figures being banded about

Most fans and everyone connected with the club (except those that have a vested financial interest) are disappointed at our lack of signings and that we don’t have a huge pit of gold to go chasing glory. However success can be achieved by utilising what you have, by coaching, improving, bonding, developing and harnessing a team spirit and by individual players beleiving in their own ability. See Leicester’s title winning team. Obviously there are a couple of glaring gaps in the squad, which we all hope will be filled, but we are more likely to have a successful and enjoyable season if we can unite as a team and as fans (dna of the club, fighting against adversity, best atmosphere in the league, etc) than by chucking countless millions at it.

It would be great, although perhaps unrealistic, if players like Wilf bought into this, knuckled down on his £100k plus per week salary (as he always has done) and prove to the world that he’s a 100m rather than 70m £ player. Drag the team up by the short and curlers like the true greats such as Maradonna did at Napoli. That’s glory. That’s a legacy. Not poncing about being rotated in a team premadonnas and glory hunter fans.

I’m surprised at the lack of meltdown at wilfs (probably nothing to do with palace) Instagram post saying ‘final straw’ which he deleted rather quickly

Workshop in full on misery mode already & it's July. I was aways under the impression that Palace fans were optimistic but prepared for the worst?

I await a rehash of his 'mark my words, we're getting relegated' style posts as soon as the season is up & running.

Latest estimates on the BBS suggest the clause has risen to 200% so even if we do sell, instead of getting any new players, we will in fact go into admin

Fair play

I don’t use Instagram. I thought that was for kids.

I'm not concerned. I'm told that Kelly, Riedewald, Schlupp and Puncheon are all very capable Premier League players who will take us to a comfortable top half finish. These are the players we really can't afford to lose.
