saw Anchorman a couple of nights ago.

I think Will Ferrell is a bit of a one trick pony when it comes to acting.
But this was still quite funny, and I liked all the little cameos from people like Ben Stiller & luke wilson.

If I was a famous peep, I would get my famous mates to do cameos.

Hmm. I didn't think War of the Worlds was that bad, to be honest. Ok, there are some glaring errors, and it's a shame the last hour of the film cannot simply compete with the opening hour of the film, but it was the sort of film you'd expect it to be, but nothing more. 3/5 for me.

I saw Hotel Rwanda last night. Excellent film as moving as you would expect. Like The Pianist or Schindlers List not really entertainment in the conventional sense.

Cheadle is superb. It rates a 9/10.

Also saw a Serious of unfortunate events. Okay nothing special. Certainly doesn't compete with a Harry potter. 5/10.

Another I saw recently was American Splendour. It has one of the actors from Sideways. 6.5/10

Seen a few movies this weekend:
Batman begins – the history behind the batman, okay movie I felt. Best batman movie perhaps.. although not saying much that..
6/10

Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith – I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan. But another okay movie. Still can’t see what all the hype is about.
4/10

Sahara – the fact that I don’t like either McConaughey or Penelope Cruz should perhaps have made me avoid this movie, but noo...a bit poor this one 3/10.

Friday night lights – the true story about "The Permian High Panthers" 1988 American football season. Billy Bob Thornton does a solid role as usual. But not that big of an American football fan, so a lot is lost on me..
5/10

Also started watching the ring 2 – but got bored after 10.minutes so stopped it..

Saw Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas recently, hilarious film. Started reading the book also. It's about two journalists who get all drugged up over a weekend in Las Vegas in an attempt to find the 'American Dream'. Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro are the two leads and are superb. Anyone else seen it? If not i highley recommend it to those looking for a good laugh although approach with caution if your easily offended!

Not this film but 'Where the Buffalo Roam' was (I think, memory hazy) the original based off another of his books Shark Hunt or something like that, starring Bill Murray. Worth a watch. I'm sure Depp does the new film justice.

"I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone... but they've always worked for me." Great line.

Yeah i've heard of that one, was made way back in 1980. Apparently not as good as Fear and Loathing. It's recently been released on dvd, only a fiver at amazon, well worth it. The book is just as good also.

I rented 'The Girl Next Door' tonight, (so to speak......)

Mmmm, I wish Elisha Cuthbert lived next door to me.

It was actually a better film than I was expecting - namely, I was expecting an American Pie type clone - but it was more comedy drama, rather than an out an out comedy.

Missed the first half of the match today because.............. I went to a screening of a film called L'Avventura by Antonioni (sp). Loved it. Have been wanting to see it for years and the film club here in Malmö put it on at 2pm today.
There are times in your life when you know it won't come back and this was one. This film was made the year I was born and it heightened the poignancy for me. I am so glad I saw it.
About a group of people who visit a volcanic island in Sicily and lose one of their party there. They spend the time looking for her but after a while give up. The film then goes on a different trajectory and takes up the relationship of two others. Their love affair is clouded by the disappearance of their mutual friend.
The film got booed off at Cannes in 1960 with the director and lead actress, Monica Vitti leaving the cinema. It still managed to win an award at the festival. The actress who plays Anna in the film, the woman who disappears, actually suffered a heart attack during filming and went into a coma for two days. During filming on the volcanic island, a typhoon struck (shown in the film) and stranded the cast. This wasn't so much a film as an historical record. If you ever get a chance to see it or read the BFI special booklet on the film do so. I promise you, it will be a rewarding experience.

What about King Kong or Lion, Witch & Wardrobe. They both sound pretty good. Also heard great things about the Constant Gardener.

Mat did. Thank you very much. Rather pleased to see that it seemed to stick very much to the book although having the Beavers as cheeky, chappy cockneys was a tad annoying.
