It was a dumb piece of play from speroni with seconds left in the half when we needed to get to half time with the momentum and winning

Not related to Hennessey, but given that he is being compared to Speroni, I'll chime in with my thoughts on the latter.

Speroni should be playing the percentages that close to half time. We've scored twice in a must win game and are about to go in at half time on the up. The dummy as Niasse charged out was unnecessary, and to follow that up with an awkward pass to Dann leaves the keeper partially at fault. Dann could do better as well obviously. We must start seeing out the crucial periods in games.

To relate to the thread, Wayne has been guilty of similar bad passes out. Overall, neither are good enough and a striker and a new keeper remain a priority for the next window.

Yes of course Dann is the major culprit but to suggest Speroni has no culpability is ridiculous
Really? I just can't see what Speroni did wrong. He played the ball out to Dann, who had both time and space, and had options too. It was a fine ball but Dann f*cked it up.

I'm not trying to pick an argument, but how's Speroni to blame?

He clears the ball we go in 2-1 up. He played a pass to Dann.. who wasn’t expecting it.. who had 3 players round him. Yes Dann should of booted it out but we wouldn’t be having that conversation if speroni just cleared it

Speroni didn't need to play that ball
It was very Palace

One other point - who was out on the left playing Niasse onside? Surely as soon as the ball was played by JS they should have moved up to keep him in an offside position? Were they asleep? Assume Schlupp or Sakho.

However that's only 1% of the blame allocated. Sadly Julian must take the lion's share with Dann not helping.

I love Jules but he was the one person who could see who was available in front of him and pick the Palace player who was in the best position/free to receive it.

Going down the middle to Dann, who had players near him, was not the best choice...that’s why Speroni is responsible for creating the problem, when there shouldn’t have been any danger at all.

Dann is responsible for then trying to play football when he was under pressure and could have just cleared it. Having lost it, he then should have been willing to bring the Everton player down (as Sakho did when he was also caught in possession), but Dann was too slow to react.

So I give 55% responsibility to Jules for creating the whole mess, and 45% to Dann for not getting himself out of it.

I’d call them the chuckle brothers, but there was nothing funny about this.

Speroni is to blame by not being Wayne Hennessey.

I wouldn't say Speroni is crap, he made a great second half save, that no way would Wayne have go down to.

Much like a lot of what Hennesey has done, for the goal he wasn’t the main culprit, but played a huge part in it. Dann should do better but showed naivety of the situation.

Unlike Hennesey though, the save in the 2nd half kept us in it which is what Hennesey hasn’t been doing for quite some time.

The anti-Wayne voices have finally turned you mad.

If he clears it we go in 2-1 up at half time. It's that simple.

Dann at fault too, but if he doesn't receive a hospital ball with three players around him there's nothing to discuss.

Near, somewhat.
He still had ample time to do what Speroni didn't.

I'm old fashioned and believe clearing the line is always the best option.

But under no definition is that a 'hospital' pass. Someone mentioned not expecting a pass. Every ******* player should be anticipating a pass and be aware of space and players around them at all times.

Yep, agree with your latter point - I criticised Dann's sudden lack of spatial and general awareness on the Jules thread.

Speroni should clear it. But dann had more than enough time to deal with it.

As has been said, Hennessey gets nowhere near that save in the 2nd half. I don't even think he would have got down to the save from niasse in the 1st half
