Spent on staying in the PL

Some of the people on here bitching about how Parish runs the club and looks after the finances couldn't run a whelk stall themselves

If it's so easy, get hold of an awful lot of millions of pounds and make the club an offer.

You could have bought the club for a whole lot less back in 2010.

Funny how Parish has been able to make the club worth so much more now if he's so crap.

Whoever sanctioned the loan of Jordon Mutch.

He's been a fixture in our squad for a long time.

bad luck seems to be the main culprit this season
sometimes it's no ones fault, it just happens
6 points between mid table and relegation

Parish leads the poll with 44% at present, inferring blame due to lack of/wrong signings. At bit daft not to include Roy in the list, I'm sure he would accept part of the blame if we go down.

Only a fool would think he is ‘mostly’ to blame.

So those of you not voting ‘injuries’ believe we’d be in the same position on the same points if we didn’t have all those players out?

Really???

Why should he? He has worked wonders with a squad brutally unbalanced and shorn of confidence.

If Parish and Freedman had done their jobs of the past two windows we would not be in this situation. The blame is entirely on them and Parish the most.

So if Parish is mostly to blame if we go down, is he mostly the person to take credit if we stay up?

We'd definitely be a few points better off without the injuries - maybe two or three. But the failure to have a balanced squad has been the killer.

If we had no injuries - and that’s not beyond the realms when you look at other clubs we could be fielding:

—————Hennessey

Ward—— Sakho ——Tomkins —— Van Anholt

—————-Cabaye———-Milivojevic

Townsend ——-Benteke—-Sako——Zaha

In reserve we’d have

————Speroni/Cavalieri——-

—-Fosu-Mensah/Bissaka—-Dann——Kelly/Delaney——Schluup/Sourae

—Puncheon——McArthur/Riedewald——-Loftus-Cheek——-Lee

———————Wickham——-Sørloth

Now apart from getting a reliable keeper, that looks pretty balanced to me unless you have the mother of all injury crises. Roy has worked in the game for 50 years and has never seen the like of it before. How can you honestly legislate for it?

Of course. I’m not convinced we should be viewing surviving by the skin of our teeth for the umpteenth time as a victory though.

What irks me about all this is that it is all so unnecessary. We’re showing behaviours of a club in its first season in the PL not its 5th. To be so unready for what might come down the track re injuries, losing managers etc etc is just amateur hour. Shambolic transfer windows in summer and Jan and appointing that clown FDB will do for us.

Steve has to carry the can I’m afraid. And I love the bloke for what he’s done for my club.

The injury crisis has hit us hard. And in a way you are right. If this crisis hadnt happened we’d probably have squeeked over the line again this season.

But injuries are part of football and in the past we’ve had good luck wth them. What the current injury crisis has done is make us pay for throwing our first 7 games this season. It has also exposed the complete lack of depth and inbalance of our squad. Therefore we’ve been less capable to deal with it than a well run club would be and we had less points on the board than we maybe should have when it kicked in.

The luck has ran out, this was bound to happen at some point.

I was just about to post something very similar to this, but you have saved me the bother.
