He was VERY good yesterday.

No doubt in my mind that he'll be our starting RB come August. Its his shirt to lose now.

He is a very exciting prospect and is being developed superbly by Roy Hodgson, like when he was dropped and Ward brought in will help keep him level headed and ensures he continues to work at his game. Next season will be key to see how he has progressed, a good pre season will be very telling of his progress but just as important is having competition and this is where having the undervalued Joel Ward (by some) in the squad to push him will be vital for Palace, i really do hope we extend his contract.
What is important is fans remembering he is still a novice learning his trade and Not expecting him to be the finished article just yet.
As an aside, it would be good to see another exciting young talent Naya Kirby now given an opportunity in pre season games and also be intergrated into the senior squad to gain confidence initially, i dont refer to selecting for match day squad in the premiership, that will happen when he is ready to step up.

I'm so impressed with this young lad. I haven't seen anyone come into a team and tackle so effectively in their first season. It's a huge upgrade from Reserve team football to the Premier League and he seems totally unfazed by the quality facing him. He's put some real seasoned pros at this level in his pocket, and that's no mean feat!

AWB has a real future ahead of him. He started well, and every game he just gets better. He didn't put a foot wrong yesterday and was terrific coming forward too.
Our atrocious injury crisis gave him a chance that he's taken with both hands. It's probably saved us a fortune in replacing Joel Ward. Sad as it was to see Wardy sidelined again (and what a servant he's been) Aaron is clearly our right back for years to come.

Would have played them in a back 3 with luka.

De Boer was arrogant and clueless. As managers go he made Pardew look competent.

I really noticed today just how willing AWB is to stand up his winger. He doesn't commit until he has to and then uses his speed to nick the ball. Makes it extremely tough to get past him. If he can improve his first touch and become a bit more comfortable on the ball, we'll have a hell of a player on our hands.

Very good 1 on 1. Seems to have a good temperament (I havenít seen the England sending off), loves a slide tackle. Sometimes he is guilty of turning his back on a winger/striker (Liverpool/Man United)... also switched off vs Bournemouth... all these are fixable though.
Definitely think heíll be first choice next yr

Absolutely excellent again yesterday.

He made some mistakes at Bournemouth a few weeks back but apart from that he's been brilliant. What a find.

I'm wary of the Gary Barrowdale effect, so don't want to get carried away. But being so pro-youth, it is hard not to. Hope Roy shows faith in him as at his age there is no reason not to.

Quality performace. Key thing he needs to learn is not to turn his back when wingers go to cross. Luckily his speed and timing of tackle enables him to recover, but it is his main defensive fault.

Great composure on the ball. Hopefully he can kick on and improve his final ball and we will have a complete prem league Right Back

Isn't that 12 players.

We could play Jairo as the other centre-back or Dann there. But would mean dropping Andros and RLC unless u feel he could play upfront.

Anyone saying NOOOOO never want to see 3 at the back again and people saying FDB was a fool well please remember we bought Sakho injured.
Tomkins was also injured.
Ward is NOT a wing back.
PVA wasn't playing at the level he is now.
OUr back three was: Fosu-Mensah, Dann, Riedewald

Two in-experienced players and Ward also had a shocker.

Where FDB was foolish was in not realising that for the start of the season with the resources available to him 4-4-2 or 4 at the back was the answer.
Only later in the season maybe should he have tried to play 3-5-2 once his two most experienced Centrebacks were fit.

Then 3-5-2 could have worked, except we didn't actually also have two fit strikers on the books either at that time :-D which was 100% the board's fault.

Anyway Roy's decision and as it appears to be working then no reason not to stick with 4-4-2
Or 4-5-1 for tough away games.
Roy will make the right choices.

:-)

If it's not broken don't fix it, I'd be amazed if RH started playing a different formation to 442.

Good chance we'll start the season with 3 or 4 big, fit, fowards (CB, CW, Sorloth and Sako if he stays), I'm kind of hoping to see Wilf start upfront with one of those.

contrary to some posts ITT (before Sunday) I would like us to put our faith in Aaron next season. He is good enough, he learns quickly and obvious has a spot on attitude. A pre-season under Roy will do him the world of good and if we are serious about brining through youth we need to give the best of them time to play. Loaning him out or giving him spare appearances would be a crime

yet another great performance on Sunday

He's done very well with his opportunity and the added pressure that comes with it, particuarly as his first games were against top 6 clubs and whilst we were still in serious relegation trouble. Imagine making an error that might relegate your boyhood club.

He's 20 years old now and anyone with real talent will have began to show it (which he clearly has). I love the tackling, it looks great and sends the right message to team mates and opponents that he'll do everything he needs to do to stop anyone beating him. That said, its surely better for a defender to stay on their feet isn't it? He's so good at these slide tackles but all he has to do is miss once and its a yellow card. I'd like to see more evidence that he can force/usher the opposing player out of touch whilst in posession of the ball rather than the far riskier tackles. His positional play seemed to be better yesterday (altough it was against West Brom). It will be great to watch his development next season.

Zaha verses Bissaska must be great to see on the training pitch - the unstoppable versus the unbeatable.

A 20 year old Full back who is showing to be unbeatable in a one v one situation and is also showing real quality going forward. Got all the attributes to be a top modern day full back. Hopefully in the pre season he will start to show bigger improvements in his positional sense which is the weakest part of his game in my opinion. Ultimately this will come with game time and nobody should jump on the kids back and expect to much from him but i honestly believe this kid has the potential to be special.
