Yala 2 assists and Townsend one goal. Successful passes similar but Townsend currently twice the number of shots per game.

Early days still.

I thought someone would say that one but as Jonathan Walters nudged it on before Tomkins scored I suppose it didn't count.

Whether or not it counts on any official list, there is no way you can deny him credit for that.

Townsend

He hasn't been very good so far let's be honest and now -

Pardew: [Townsend] came to see me. He wants to play on the right-hand side. But Wilf was great on the right [against Leicester]

I said on the transfer thread that I had relatively good info he was moody.. seems like instead of knuckling down and proving himself on left is now demanding right wing.

Harsh as I think he's been good, and got a lot more to offer.

Plus, you would like to think the management had discussed playing positions before singing a player and AT would be aware where he would be playing!

Appreciate the frustration at losing to the bin dippers, but Townsend can't. E made the scapegoat for this one.

Who's made him a scapegoat?

I think he's been poor so far since he signed (bar 30 mins against Stoke).

This isn't a discussion about today's game but rather the above comment from Pardew about him

Clusterf*ck of a decision to sign him then. His whole game is based around driving in-field on the diag to primarily work a shooting position. Therefore he plays on the right.

Wilf is not that type of player and by default, prefers the right.

So we've effectively spent 15m providing competition for Wilf whilst leaving a Bolaise sized hole on the other flank. It's up there with spending 10m on a defender that can't defend.

It's poor management you don't drop a natural winger with pace and good crossing ability for someone who isn't a winger imo.

This.

Pardew himself said if bolasie was sold a replacement would be signed.. well there hasn't been.

We have a 32m class striker with only wilf Performing

Townsend has been one of the most disappointing signings we have made in a long time. Expected so much more but he seems to struggle at the very basics let alone the complex aspects of the game.

He gets the ball, does an annoying amount of pointless step overs and then fails to get a cross in. Needs to improve drastically.

So this would explain why he was in the bench

I said on twitter as soon as we signed townsend that he would be a replacement for Bolasie. I also said I don't care about money, I enjoyed paying just to watch Bolasie and Zaha for the entertainment whether we won or lost. You have to say though that townsend included, there are not alot of players doing well at the moment (maybe bar Maccarthur)

A proper clued up manager would get the best out of him. Pardew is failing bigtime....

I guess this means Townsend will only start games from now on if Zaha is out.

What a mess this club is in.
