Not this nonsense again? All those poor souls who gave their lives in various conflicts so that we could have the freedoms we enjoy now, and it just gets traduced into spats about colours of poppies as if it's some kind of pissing contest.

The important thing is that we remember, how you do it is of no importance.

How many people wearing a white poppy know that there is a World Peace Day on September 21?

I didn't know there was a world peace day (though I don't wear a poppy), is the 21st Sept symbolic for some reason?

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

Good post

From my personal perspective it is not about colour options. It can only be RED otherwise the meaning is lost and you piss up the wall any respect for those that lost their lives to even have these boards of banter.

Exactly.

Put your quid (or whatever) in the box. You don't have to wear the poppy.

Or just ignore it all and stfu.

Don't really get that if I am being honest especially as I am guessing all the money will end up in his pocket rather than the Leigon's.
Been selling them for years. Never thought of it like that. He is actually taking money from the Legion as i bought his badges and wore them instead of a poppy. Wont do that again.

In my opinion the meaning of wearing the poppy has disintegrated through people wanting progression rather than meaningless symbols and from people who want to hold onto tradition without ever really questioning what progress has been made in society and the world from what the poppy is supposed to symbolise. I won't be wearing one again this year, I will as always spare more than a thought for those who have died in every conflict the world over, whether British or non British. So many lives are lost for war and the complete pointlessness of it all. Another year of famous poems being shared without ever being taken in, a round of 'we will remember them' and 'lest we forget' without actually remembering anything.
