Network Rail - nothing to do with Croydon Council who, like London tarnsport, have no powers in this respect.

In case anyone wondered - the trains aren't affected and are running as normal (whatever normal is these days !).

You can also still walk through ok, on the side of the station.

I didn't tell you this but.......

The fire barrier the other side of the station, is forced open almost every day, so you 'may' be able to get through it on saturday!

The first day of the closure there was a queue from 1 end of Saxon road to the other and it must have taken about 40-60 mintes to drive 100 yards.

The traffic around here is horendous.

Just glad i live within 10 minutes walking distance of the ground!

Sorry G.G. having used that route a few times last week, yesterday it was padlocked and blocked by bollards. Seems the council have found out a few locals were using that route to escape the chaos. Instead of allowing access on a temp basis to help lessen the traffic jams they as normal are doing their best to make lives hard as possible for Croydon people. It may be true that the bridge needs urgent repair, but a better thought out way of managing the traffic could have been found with a little thought, but then Croydon Council are not known for brains. Sorry but the bit in this Fridays Adder about Croydon being the best boro in London is utter rubbish!!

Not that I work for Croydon or anything, but I'm sure if you have a well thought out alternataive that takes all interested/affected parties into account they would like to see it?

Indeed it usually is, but lets just say some determined people usually find a way!

When i go to work i walk past the barrier and it is padlocked and bollarded (8am) but by the time i come home (6pm) it is wide open and people travelling through.

Sorry G.G. it was not padlocked before, there was just a removable bolt, I know as I was one of those law breakers. They have now put a heavy padlock and protection cover to prevent us going down there with bolt cutters. Good article about it all in the Croydon Guardian today. Would strongly suggest anybody using that route allows at least extra 20 mins to get there on Saturday. Even worse there are new parking restrictions on Clifton and Park road coming on Monday if you read the public notices in the same edition of the C.G.

Some good news the peoples popular front of Selhurst seem to have zapped the councils latest padlock and the gate has been open all day yesterday and today. Of course depending on how peacefull a Saturday afternoon they want, it may or may not be open tomorrow!

Just providing an update for people that may not have seen it elsewhere. Seeing that might have been a bit misleading.

Reading in to Clapham Junction and then back out again (platform 15 to Selhurst or Norwood Junction) would be easiest Samo

What's the traffic like on Whitehorse Road in the rush hours? Specifically on the bridge with the speed camera on it over the railway line.
