Shoot! mag, the greatest football weekly for kids ever.
Getting your flares caught in your bike chain...they'd have black stripes all over them after a few weeks.
Spending endless days fishing & catching nothing, but loving playing with the maggots.
Being ordered out in sub-zero temperatures to "go & fill the coal scuttle" from the bunker in the back garden. Then getting clothes covered in coal dust.
Huddling round the fire at weekends & being told stories. Or looking at photo albums.
Playing hide & seek then finding everyone had gone out & left you at home.
Begging for an ice-cream cornet when the chimes sounded & all the kids ran indoors to do the same.
A pickled onion as a treat from the fish & chip shop. Or gherkin - yuk!
The coalman's weekly run.
Milkmen & hatches for milk & yoghurts (no, they were too expensive come to think of it).
Jacko skates.
Knitted woollen balaclavas (mine was grey, looked like something out of the 14th Century). And knitted scarves of course, my Palace one was about 5 feet long. Plus yer bobble hats, all knitted of course.
Y-fronts...slippers....nylon pyjamas...tomato sandwiches (yuk)...8 in the car every time we went out.
And so it goes on...fangs for the mammaries.

That weird picture of a girl playing noughts and crosses with a doll whe the TV shut down randomly during the day. I used to get hypnotised by this for hours as a toddler apparently.

Watching Eurotrash and/or Hammer Horror films late on BBC1 as the only conceivable hope of seeing some boobs on terrestrial TV in the early 90s.
Well I used to work in Willis road just behind the Mail coach. We used the Test card when aligning the picture on newly re-gunned telly screens, after that you de-gauzed the telly screen with a magnet and made sure there was no bleeding of colours...this was the purpose of the Test card so I was told.

Do Apprentices still get...

Sent round Browns the Bakers for Crusty Cheese and onion rolls with a long list of names on it.

Get sent to other factories for a Bag of sparks for the grinder or a long wait/stand?

Have 3 / 4 pints of a lunch time, then spend the afternoon operating a circular saw.

Be made to make the tea.

Used to spend every break time at Wattenden Primary school playing huge games of marbles down the drainage pipes at the side of the playground. The most sought after were the 'chinas'. There were also the really big ones called kings.

I do believe a certain type of duelling is popular on Hampstead Heath in the early hours of every morning.
