Perhaps but I am not sure if something such as the Olympic organising committee would be VAT registered in the first place ( is VAT charged on the tickets ? ) and therefore not able to claim any VAT back.

But this is just a guess.

What is more ominous is the resignation of the American who had been employed to head up the construction side of things. I saw something in the papers this weekend about potential problems with unexploded WW2 bombs needing to be unearthed at several of the main sites and nothing having been done in the last year at all.

I have no doubt the Olympics will be a huge success as they always are in every country.

No doubt there will be loads of scare stories usually put about by people who know nothing whatsoever of the real situation and never wanted the games in England in the first place.

I for one am delighted that we have them and have the chance to show the world what a great job we can do on putting on such a global event.

Oh dear. Although to be fair I did think similar not so long ago. However, having been to events and often travel into London for work the games have been organised brilliantly. You know what even the food was superb and not stupidly expensive.
