Nicely put.

I still don't get this 'lucky' tag.

He made a mistake with FDB which he has admitted. To replace him he would have interviewed managers. He chose Roy, because he believed he could do the job. 95% of Palace 'fans' would have said no to Roy but SP went for it.

Is it luck or is it that some people don't want to admit he got it right (for whatever reason) ?

There's an element of luck to everything we do in life, including crossing the road. You could easily argue he was unlucky with the FDB appointment.

Absolutely right, but to say we are where we are now is due to 'luck' is a bit extreme. Can anyone have 8 years of continuous luck or does he just get things right the majority of the time.

It seems that some people just cannot accept he has got the vast majority of things spot on.

Whilst that may be true, there is also the majority that can give praise or criticism, depending on the circumstances.

It seems that one has to sit on either end of the spectrum - either he's the luckiest man alive or he can do no wrong. As always, the truth lies between the two extremes.

Overall, I think he's done a fantastic job as chairman but I think he was lucky to get away with providing the manager(s) with (maximum) one fit striker for most of the season & for not having a better keeper than Hennessey for the whole season.

Onwards & (hopefully) upwards. Up the Palace.

I doubt it is just Croydon Council or was, they seem for some strange () reason to suddenly be if not on our side, keener to assist. However don't forget that from the time Goldberg took over there was little or no ground improvements of any kind until 2010 took over. Jordan used the excuse that he would not invest in a stadium he did not own, but of course in reality did not have the cash to buy it. Goldberg had plans but of course he crashed and burned before anything concrete could be done.

In effect 2010 have had to try and improve a stadium that was already in a bad state of disrepair and was not fit for purpose after over 10 years of stagnation. In addition the "Sainsbury's" effect has made a tough task even tougher.

Sure 2010 have made errors and of course there are lots still to do, but they have moved forward more in 5/8 years than the club has seen achieved in the previous 13 years of neglect.
