Another example of Parish forcing players on Pardew.

Same thing happened with Sako.

With Benteke thats not ideal, and I rather play to Bentekes strength and Townsends.

Maybe have a switch over during the game but not the hole match

They do, Wardy provided the cross for Benteke at Everton and Fryers crossed beautifully for Benteke to score.

Somehow these things are easily forgotten by the glass half empty brigade.

Wardnis underrated in here. Dont get me wrong he has some poor games but who doesn't. We need cover at left back.

I actually like it when we swap the wingers over during the game. I think it teases out different weaknesses in the game of the opposing full back/defence. The problem with it might be more for our full backs as they obviously have different strengths/positioning defensively but I can't see that being insurmountable.

I probably would have asked Wilf to start on the left anyway because he should get far more shots in from that side as he rarely shoots with his left which is limiting. His problem is that his crossing (on average) isn't great with his right (good cross for McArthur's goal BTW) but I suspect is far worse with his left as he rarely puts them in, jinking instead inside.

There is no doubt that Andros lost his edge in the last couple of games but I thought it was down to carrying that England injury - maybe it's in his head. Did OK in his cameo I thought. When people moan that he was cutting inside - did you look at what was in front of him? There was an army of yellow shirts and simply ploughing ahead into that is plain dumb.

There must be a reason he had the problems he had with different managers at Spurs? Playing for England does not mean you are automatically a good player who automatically starts. To me he has had two good games and besides those was distinctly average (being kind). Big worry is that the only signing from the summer looking the part is Benteke. Wilf is consistently our best attacking player and also puts in a lot of defensive duties. He loses the ball mainly because he has three players on top of him instantly. Clyne who is reportedly being watched by Barcelona made the right decision for his career at the time, doing it in steps while Wilf went for the glamour in a team that he thought would be the instant step to super stardom.

It's amazing how almost a whole season's worth of poor results (especially at home) from the team across two seasons can be brushed under the carpet as being too small a sample size, but professional footballers put in a couple of good crosses, which is essentially just kicking the ball reasonably accurately over a distance of 25 yards, and they're the the new Carlos and Cafu.

I was simply referring to the assertion from Glaziers Fan that we need full backs who can cross the ball.

If we want to see the best of Andros and Wilf we need to switch them over, buy some full backs and give it time.

But before we do any of that we MUST get Zaha signed up on a new contract.
The obvious conclusion to draw from this little episode is Palace DID intend to sell Zaha in the summer and Townsend was his replacement. For whatever reason, that didn't happen and this is the resultant mess.

But Zaha is not anywhere near as effective on the left. He's brilliant on the right. Why move him?

We surely don't need another conspiracy theory..........

Pardew has no way of selling a player in the current setup without Parish not only knowing, but actively agreeing so any attempt to sell him would have to be a collective one and not one that Parish had to step in to stop.

I could make up a better one but I won't because it's not going to help.

Didn't we buy Bolasie when we already had Zaha? I.e. Another right footed/sided winger. So it's not that unlikely. This is just a blip and will be worked out. Both players can play on both wings, they just have a preference for the right. No big deal.

It does seem a big deal though as Pardew wrongly dropped him because of it and played someone who isn't a winger and has no pace.

No conspiracy theory. Just trying to make sense of it. And Bolasie had aalways played on the left at Plymouth and Bristol City. So it was logical that he'd do so at Palace.

This is my main issue. I was really impressed with him against West Brom and felt the rest of the team weren't on his level and were still in last season's malaise.

Then, as the weeks wear on, I feel like he spends most of his time in central midfield just to try and get touches on the ball.

The oft churned out complaint I hear is about him taking people on and shooting too much but, in my opinion, he doesn't do enough of this. One of the few times he actually did this, he scored that excellent goal against Stoke.

I thought he would be much better but then again he probably thought he would play in his favoured position on the right more often.

I still think he's an excellent player but he's not doing what we brought him in for at the moment and I didn't disagree with benching him yesterday.
