Love Punch. One of my favourite ever Palace players. Clearly cares and he shouldnt be playing deep. However he looks absolutely bereft of confidence at the moment and should no way be starting.

He's not a central midfielder and never will be, I don't know why we keep persisting with playing him there, I'm struggling to think of a game that he's actually played well there.

He has to play higher up the pitch, if at all. Personally think he needs dropping.

Really is sad to watch. A player who less than two years ago was dictating games, our main creative hub and so dangerous from free kicks. Since Cabaye joined he has been on a slow decline, culminating in yesterday's performance where all he did was pass back to Dann and Delaney

When was the last time one of out central midfielders slid in a through ball to our striker?

Obiang assisted Carroll in that way yesterday. Defoe was assisted in that way.

Our central midfield offers nothing apart from pass it to the wings and hope they do something.

The good thing with Allardyce is that he does seem aware of the problems in a relatively short space of time. I don't want to see Puncheon in the starting line up again. I don't want to see Ledley and his beard full stop!!!

A midfield 3 of McArthur, Cabaye, and Milivojevic will do for now.

Strange how Cabaye used to do exactly that at Newcastle but at Palace only seems to do sideways passing like the rest of the midfield

The enigma that is puncheon. He has been rather poor for 18 months. I just wish he would stop pirouetting every time he gets the ball. Constantly slows down our attacks. Loses the ball faffing about. Not one decent shot that I can remember this season. Was great under Pulis and start of Pardew reign......but that's it

Jason Puncheon is a winger. He was moved inside to accommodate Wilf rejoining the club & because he was banging a few goals in and it seemed to make sense to play him in the hole behind a striker. Since then he has slowly been moved deeper and deeper and now appears to be regarded as a deep lying centre midfielder.

The problem is, he's lost a yard of pace, he can't tackle, he doesn't win the ball in the air, he doesn't bust a guy to get in the box. He's become a completely pointless player, who's been played in a way that exposes his weaknesses rather than plays to his strengths. 10/10 on circles though.

Why the hell is he played as a deep lying midfielder? He was brilliant when played wide under Pulis. Pardew tried to turn him into a central midfielder and its failed. Our central midfield was so weak yesterday. Weird playing McArthur further forward on the left.

He's never been 'brilliant' for us. Some very important goals especially from free kicks, but Pardews golden boy Cabaye put a stop to that.

If you don't think Puncheon was brilliant for us in our first 2 seasons then god help you. Him and Pulis were the ones pulling the strings in the first season. In the second season it was Puncheon who transformed us under Pardew to get the best from our play with a revatlisied Zaha Murray Bolasie from the promotion days. Ever since Cabaye has been at the club Puncheon has dipped and had responsibility taken away from him. The free kick Benteke had yesterday would of been Puncheons every day of the week 2 years ago.

Why does he not get played defensive mid and McArthur left mid? Good logic that from Sam

I thought he was excellent under Pulis. He scored some vital goals. But he's not a central midfielder. Too weak.

Or a winger, too slow. Or a CAM, too many backwards passes and too one-footed.........
