Even Tillerson called out Russia in his speech tonight. Haha. At this stage it takes a very heavy duty pair of rose tinted white nationalist specs to deny the emerging picture.

It's quite telling that the leader of the country that contains the 6th largest economy in the world (and therefore presumably a very big player in Trump's making America great again etc) doesn't bother to visit there until he's been in the job for over a year. And even then it's to look at walls.

Apparently after seeing the sample walls, he now wants them to be see through, so the boarder guards can see what is going on the other side.

Quote:
"One of the things with the wall is you need transparency," Trump said. "You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can't see through that wall — so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what's on the other side of the wall.

"And I'll give you an example: As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don't see them — they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It's over," Trump continued. "As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall. But we have some incredible designs."
Then went on to make some stereotype generalization (bordering on racist) in my opinion:

Quote:
Trump said tall walls were needed to keep out “incredible climbers.”

“Getting over the top is easy. These are like professional mountain climbers, these are incredible climbers,” Trump said. “They can't climb some of these walls, some of them they can.”

I'm sure the $250,000 a plate dinner in Beverly Hills tonight had nothing to do with him coming here...

Donald Trump

Just read about a wankers connection...

The details of the fundraiser were not released, but it was believed that Ed Glazer held the event at his Beverly Park home. AIR7 HD captured footage of a large tent at Glazer's property and other party rentals.

Glazer is part of a family who owns the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and soccer team Manchester United. Glazer is a longtime Trump supporter, who donated $30,000 to the Trump Victory Fund in May.

Trump got back to talking that crazy shit today. The To view the link you have to Register or Login but this stood out.

Quote:
He accused Japan of using gimmicks to deny U.S. auto companies access to its consumers, said South Korea was taking advantage of outdated trade rules even though its economy was strong and said China had single-handedly rebuilt itself on the back of its trade surplus with the United States.

"It's called the bowling ball test; do you know what that is? That's where they take a bowling ball from 20 feet up in the air and they drop it on the hood of the car," Trump said of Japan. "And if the hood dents, then the car doesn't qualify. Well, guess what, the roof dented a little bit, and they said, nope, this car doesn't qualify. It's horrible, the way we're treated. It's horrible." It was unclear what he was talking about.

Also flat out lying about the trade balance with Canada. Everyone knows it is a lie, he is even recorded admitting it, but comes out today and says he didn't lie. Incredible.

As someone smarter than me has noted. Trump is always in campaign mode. This is what he likes, as in essence, it's marketing. When campaigning you can get away from talking from gut feelings, as you are addressing smaller groups of people who won't at that point question the details. Once elected, NORMALLY, the leader has to support those feelings with empirical evidence. He doesn't feel the need to do this as he is always in campaign mode.

Lamb was ex-USMC, anti gun legislation, personally opposed to abortion (but happy to keep the current laws) and promised to work with Trump.

He does however support Obamacare and is anti the new tax plan.

I wonder how many Dems would want to stand that far to the right?

There is plenty of reason to be optimistic. Lamb's win was a 20 point swing in a district that has been Republican since 2003 and he won in spite of Trump and the GOP throwing everything they had to win it.

This follows after Doug Jones' shock win in Alabama and a very close defeat in Georgia for Jon Ossoff, both elections that experienced big swings to the Democrats.

There is also another special election, in Wisconsin I think that is being held up because the Republicans fear they'll lose it.

The question is how do they marry the politics that win Red States and rural areas with those that win Blue states and urban areas.

Point 1. He is pro-gun registration, but not blanket restrictions
Point 2. He is a Catholic and expresses his personal view which is fine. But he is also clear on his belief that women should have the right to choose (as per the constitution)
Point 3. He is being very smart here. He is basically saying that he will not stick to single issue politics and will work with whomever has similar desires. This is proving to be very effective with the electorate who are increasingly angry with the negative status que. He will win Dems more votes than they lose. It is a strong model for the Dems.
