Posh Nick talks bollocks:

I'm pretty sure that the house in the background of the photo is the house he lived in on Haverstock Hill, NW3. Sadly demolished now.

I'd probably put Hitler and Alan Mullery ahead of Nick Drake in terms of "needing a bit of a slap"…..

Oh good. Wouldn't want angst-ridden posh singer songwriters to feel they were being singled out.

I'm not talking about the man I'm talking about the work, his vocals had a maturity and emotional depth to them that many who look to follow him lack.

His work as a whole was very ambitious where as most of those who cover him aren't, covering or claiming inspiration from him has become popular with todays mostly unambitious "folk" music, the same as say the Small Faces or the Beatles in the 90's.

One of the best cover versions of recent years, its not like The Wall didn't already have a clear disco influence on tracks like Another Brick.

Even though I do like Johnny Cash, I think it is possibly worse than that would be, particularly at the end when he gets involved in duet;

Which one is Johnny Cash?

I always say that a beatles song can be improved just by removing the beatles from it.....I may have been a little wrong.......

Just stumbled across this thread and it reminded me of the time my old housemate, who was quite a big Zeppelin fan decided to download and play Jimmy Page’s eighties spin-off band The Firm, with Paul Rodgers on vocals. We had a couple of beers and sat there in a bemusement as to how so much musical pedigree could produce such an absolute dog turd of an album.

Lead single ‘Radioactive’ is pretty terrible but the lowest point of the experience was undoubtedly this absolute abomination of a cover. Anyway I’ve just had as much of a listen as I can handle to confirm my previous position and it is indeed just as bloody awful as I remember, to the extent that I think it actually be some kind of prank. ‘Enjoy’.

P.S. I haven’t checked the whole thread but I’m imagining that this is probably the second outing for this song after that fat bloke off of Hi De Hi did it on Pebble Mill, back in 90s at some point.
