If the current form of most of the bottom 11 clubs continues, 32 points may indeed be enough....

West Brom: 1 win in 22

Southampton: 0 wins in 11 and 1 win in 15

Brighton: 1 win in 13

Watford: 1 win in 11 and 7 defeats in last 9

Newcastle: 2 wins and 10 defeats in last 15

Swansea: 1 win in 7 and 2 wins in 15

Stoke: 2 wins in 9, 3 wins in 14 and 8 defeats in last 12

Huddersfield: 3 defeats in a row, 0 wins in 6 and 2 wins in 13

Bournemouth: 2 wins in 11 but unbeaten in 5

West Ham last 13: W4 D5 L4 Pts17

Palace last 13: W5 D6 L2 Pts21

Only us and West Ham with any sort of form over the past 3-4 months.

My money is on Swansea, Brighton and Huddersfield.

I agree with both of your points and 37 is my safety line too, especially if we can continue to improve our GD. Get Sakho back, keep Wilf fit and firing and I think we stay up. If we also manage to get an extra, quality striker and someone dynamic into the midfield to replace RLC, we will stay up. No creative reinforcements and Wilf injured = Say Hello To The Championship.

Yeah, I appreciate all the bad runs but as we know from experience, teams at the bottom pull crazy stuff out of the bag towards the end of the season.

I know that a number of teams (not just one) need to do this but if you offered me 32 points at the end of the season, I'd have trouble accepting it.

I posted the predicted points tally and did not believe it myself. Therefore I have called 34/35 Which I think is probably closer.

The difference this season is that so many are in the mix. Normally by now we have around 6 teams in no mans land. This season its 2.

Leicesters form is holding up as I think they are still chasing europa league football. If that becomes unlikely that form may well dip.

Our next three games are huge. They are;

West Ham (A)

Newcastle (H)

Everton (A)

What would you guys take?

I would take 5 points with a win against Newcastle at home. Ideally 3 wins though!

Worst case 3 draws. Beating Newcastle would be peachy.

I would settle for 4. Lose at West Ham, Beat Newcastle & draw at Everton. That would leave us needing prolly 10 points more. Looking at our fixtures that does not look like a given. I think we’re going to need to pull out a result against a top team again.

Just a reminder that we are still +4 on estimated scores. This is our difficult spell and we are doing well. We have a run now where apart from a win against Newcastle we really do not need to do that much to stay ahead of the game.

3 wins and we're pretty much home and dry. Newcastle losing to us would be devastating for their season

Always going to be the case - its a dog fight for a lot of clubs till seasons end including us - unless of course we stick it to Newcastle and West Ham (very possible) and all will seem much better

With the start we had it is miraculous that we are not cut adrift, long way to go but I am quietly confident that a few new signings and it will end O.K.

This is true but we really don't want to go in to those final six games needing 4 wins.. the pressure would be huge and psychologically being in the bottom 3 can be very tough - so I think we need to stay ahead of the game.

If you take the results on the first post as a guide, we could lose the next 6, then if we beat Huddersfield we would still be +1 when Liverpool come to Selhurst!

That does however mean winning 5 of our last 8, which is a big ask but possible and would have us on 39 and safe.

Realistically 4 points would be reasonable from those 3 (and we would still be +4 in relation to the opening post).

Would be happy with Draws in the 2 aways and a win vs Newcastle, think we'll lose the 2 aways and beat Newcastle though
