I'm going to the one at Wembley. Anyone been to their gigs before? I love Origin Of Symetry and also their Live album Hullabaloo, so this should be quite easy to enjoy.

I'm going to the Wembley one as well, I saw them at Reading last year. Looks like I might have a day off university if I've got Radiohead and Muse 2 days in a row in London!

I was at The Royal Albert Hall last night and saw a poster advertising a Canadian band called The Musical Box who recreate the very theatrical Genesis shows of the 70's.

They're performing Selling England by the Pound there in October and I'm seriously thinking of going as it's my favourite Genesis album and I was too young when Genesis were doing it.

Anyone seen them? Are they any good?

Showbiz is their best album by miles :P

I'm going to see them in both London and Manchester, I see many venues have sold out already. Best band in the world at the moment!

Saw them at Reading last year (brilliant but such a short set) and before at the London Arena a year and a half ago. They are fantastic live.

Anyone going to see PJ Harvey at the Tate Modern? It's sold out and I would kill for a ticket. Or two.

g23 is, he managed to get super-advance early warning. Don't think he's got spares though He's also making the Eden project show she's doing in August.

Just got back from Paris where I saw the Stones. How can such a beautiful city be inhabited by such a bunch of arrogant tossers like that. I have never encountered such rudeness in my life.

Anyway, to the gig at the Stade De France, which was not as impressive as it looks on TV. There were anti- british protesters outside urging the french not to see the Stones - they really have one big problem!

The Stereophonics were the support act and, although I am not a great fan, they were pleasant enough and did a good selection of their hits and new stuff.

As for the Stones, well, they are the Stones. If you have ever seen them before, you know what to expect. A long wait for them, an impressive stage set-up, and two hours of non-stop classics.

It was a bit weird this time round though. The set was a bit patchy and the sound did not have Keef's guitar loud enough at times. Even more surprising was Keef''s habit of playing almost melodic solos when all you want him to do is raunchy riffing.

I won't say too much as I don't want to spoil it for anyone seeing them in August. It was'n't the best musically that I had seen them but it's a hell of a spectacle and the atmosphere is excellent. If you are seeing them at Twickenham it will be great day out. If you happen to be seeing them at the Astoria, it will be mind blowing and I can always be persuaded via PM to buy any spare tickets of f you - hint hint!.

My only gripe would be the commercialism of the tour. Do you remember the fan club fiasco where you paid £60 or so to enable you to priority book tickets. Well, a french friend of ours arranged the tickets for us and they were 90 euros each. Despite this we were at the opposite end to the stage, around 150 yards away. Thankfully, they had a large screen although the audio/video delay did get annoying at times.

I much prefer the intimacy of smaller venues. However, this was an event more than a gig and 10 hours of pre-gig drinking was an ideal warm-up.

Yes, considering myself very lucky. I subscribe to the Tate mailer, so got a mysterious hint on the Friday afternoon before the tickets went on sale. When combined with my friend Sally's rumbling's from the PJ sites that a tiny surprise gig was to be announced imminently, this seemed evdience enough to get up at 7am and fill out a ticket request on-line. All 500 or so went within minutes.

Don't like your chances much with touts - in the unlikely event that anyone wants to get rid of a ticket, there'll be a Polly Jean legion waiting to pay silly money for it.

I'll post a review though, if that helps?

Oh, and she's also playing in Paris, on the banks of the Seine next month if that's easier?

Ah well, guess you had to be really on the ball to stand a chance of getting a ticket for that one. A review would be good though. I'll see if the good lady wife fancies a romantic weekend in Paris.

Saw the datsuns last week and was one of the greatest things my eyes and ears hav ever had the pleasure 2 experience. A stunning encore. The whole gig reminded me of spinal tap.
The brunnettes and the monarchs where both ok in support the lady in the brunnettes annoyed me a bit.

I love the Datsuns...always a great show. I didn't go as I am seeing them twice in August, in Washington and at Reading!

This might be a bit of a plug in a way, but if there are any BBS members who fancy performing live themselves, I am running an Open Mic Nite at the "Clockhouse" pub on Beckenham Road (in Beckenham)on Wednesday 23rd July. It starts at 8.30 and all are welcome to come along and play, or just have a listen to others. The standard varies from people performing for the first time, to full-time pro's trying out new material, so whatever your performance experience you'll be more than welcome.

I know this is short notice, but the whole thing was only set up today. If it goes well, we're hoping to make it a regular thing. If anyone wants any more info, feel free to PM me.

Just back form the US where I saw the Vans Warped Tour and Lollapalooza.

The Vans Warped Tour was so much fun. While I cannot lie and say that all the bands were musically thrilling, the atmosphere was excellent. Each band had it's own stand and there were freebies galore. Also I managed to get a Vans T-shirt with a free official baseball cap for $10. Apart from a few venue owned merchandising outlets, the whole thing was amazing value with most T-shirts under $10.

The crowd were in great spirits and I remember a particular circle pit that went round the sounddesk was very amusing as the show was in a gravel car park and the amount of dust thrown up was obliterating the band. Some nutter picked up a wheelie bin full of rubbsh and lobbed it into the crowd too which was hilarious.

Bumped into two of Andrew WK's band but could not find a way of explaining that I thought that they were fun to watch but come accross as a heavy metal Jive Bunny, so I said nothing and smiled!

Best bands...The Used, Thrice, Mest, Bowling For Soup. All American Rejects, and the Ataris.

Band to avoid at all costs..Me First and The Gimmee Gimmees

Lollapalooza in Washington

DISTILLERS - Nothing special for me

THE DONNAS - An all girl rawk band who were surprisingly good. The drummer and guitarist are excellent and they were very tight.

THE MUSIC - Eeek. Sorry to say that they were not very good on the day. They jsut seemed to be going through the motions. Having said that they were on the 2nd stage and started the show with only around 100 people watching but had over 500 by the end with most people moving. They played one new song which was pretty much in the same class as their older stuff.

Later in the day we met Rob Harvey who was just smiling and throwing peace signs to everyone. He told my daughter that the band were really knackered and were missing home a lot. Baloo..I got a few photos whch I will PM to you when I get them developed.

QOTSA - A quick dash from the Music to see the start of the QOTSA set. They were great and managed to play all the good stuff loud and fast just as I like it.

INCUBUS - You just cannot beat this band on a warm afternoon and they went down a storm. The girl next to me nearly shattered my eardrum when Brandon took his shirt off. They did a few new numbers and gave the impression that the next album will be another good'un. The new bass player fitted in well.

AUDIOSLAVE - I have to say that I found the album to be quite bland and disappointing. However, they are awesome live and I have started playing it again since. Tom Morello is a rock god and the band deliver. Set It off and Cochise were my faves although their version of Seven Nation Army was pretty impressive too. Perhaps they should have got a few gigs under their belt before they recorded the album. THe next one should be a corker and I may eventually get over Rage Against The Machine splitting.

JANES ADDICTION - Unfortunately, we were all knackered after Audioslave and didn't wait for Jane's Addiction. For the rest of our visit the radio stations were constantly playing tracks off the new album, especially the superb "Just Because", and I regret not hanging on. I saw them at Reading last year and they are a good band live. Oh well - you can't have everything
