Is it simply our recruitment team are so poor and, if so, why is this?

Re Bournemouth and Watford (and Brighton) they are doing okay now but might not be that high up the table come May. Watford have fallen away before after a good start. We can and should improve.

Excellent point.

Last season Roy did his trick of only losing unluckily to the top six, which we’ve kept up this season. However last season we rarely lost to anyone outside the top six - even with all those injuries. This season we haven’t turned up, or have been tactically outplayed by the lower teams.

And that problem of not being able to break down teams who sit deep has returned without RLC and Cabaye.

Its hard to imagine how such a multi-million pound business can have such incompetent upper management, in Parish, Dougie, Bright, that Scottish Gay Snake guy in the background. They've failed time and time again with player acquisition, yet still keep spending money, deluding themselves that the clear pattern of failure isn't there. Going into a January window and expecting anything but more of the seem is equally delusional IMHO.

Roy's tactics this year seem so rigid and stubborn. He's got an unbalanced squad with one decent prem winger in AT and one arguably Champs League class one, and hes playing both out of position, as well as two centre mids out wide? Absolute bonkers. His lack of tactical flexibility will drag us deep into a relegation dogfight. As poor as our squad is in attack, i'm certain a more pragmatic manager such as Allardyce would have us in comfortable mid table with the same tools. Roy is failing, the upper management is failing, no goals from open play at home going into December, having played some pretty poor opposition... Other than that brilliant...

Clearly there's no immediate panic, but if after the three winnable games of Burnley West Ham and Brighton coming up, there's been more points dropped and similar performances, i think a change of manager will be called for by Xmas, rightly or wrongly.

No-one is perfect, but listened to a recent pod with Steven Reid on it (On off the Ball - they did not discuss why he left) today and it reminded me how revered Roy is by players who have worked with Roy. Andrews and Reid could not be more full of praise about how they loved playing for him but it was clear that was not based on too much freedom etc.

I was not losing faith, but it reminded me of the reasons I am such a fan.

Just because he didn't have a transfer fee doesn't mean he cost nothing.

Take into account the wage and signing on fee and he's probably one of our top earners.

4-4-2 just doesn’t get the most out of the players available. Meyer wasted out wide, Ayew wasted up front, Wilf often wasted up front. Go back to basics, 4-2-3-1 or something along those lines. Sorloth up front until Benteke is back, Wilf and Andros/Ayew out wide, midfield 3 of Luka, Kouyate and Max. Simple.

Last night another example of the team not turning up in a winnable game having got less that they deserved against the top six.

When was the last time we came from behind to win a league match under Roy?

Worrying how blatantly obvious that most supporters can see this would surely improve us. Even if it didn't make us drastically better, the change would throw oppositions scouting reports if nothing else
