Had a boozy week-end in Deal a couple of years ago. Loads of great pubs, all within a short stagger of each other . The Bohemia, The Ship, and the Albert are a few I remember. We stayed in a Pub/Hotel but I can't remember its name.

I took the my kids down there a few weeks back, to show them where I used to live. Also we have a bench on the seafront in memory of my Dad. Anyway, I'd recommend the Deal Beach Parlour for a knickerbocker glory and the Kings Head on the seafront for a pint. You could fish off the pier if you are into that. The swimming baths (Tides) has a cool wave machine. Not sure how old your kids are, but if you are really stuck do a day booze cruise. Er, that is about it...

You could try lyyden hill race circuit, its 2 minutes from my home, between dover and canterbury, they have a truck fest on, with loads of races and events. Top gear race there often with buses and caravans ect.

Find the Old Town - walk down the underpass it's about 10min walk from station - there are some decent boozers and restaurants.

Just remember as previously stated if you were only to discover the new town you'd think you'd woke up in Trainspotting land. Good luck !
