The Transfer window
Just over 2 weeks until the transfer window opens, we all know we NEED A STRIKER but when will we get our man , day 1 to give us the best possible fighting chance , week 2 , a couple of games have passed us by or the last day of the window in typical Palace style, if we're serious about giving Roy the best chance of staying in the premier league then we will have things already lined up but this is Palace and nothing ever comes easy or runs smoothly , personally I think Roys got someone lined up under the radar , we'll hopefully anyway

I don't think we will sign anyone half decent no striker in form will be let go in the January windows without a massive price tag we all know the SB rightly or wrongly wont pay that and taking a chance on a striker with no current form has cost us before.

if we don't have a new player signed before the gave vs Burnley on the 13th then something has gone wrong. I'll let them off the games vs saints on the 2nd and the easy cup game.

Best we can hope for is an out of favour striker from a top team on loan for the rest of the season and they will most probably hold out until the last minute to see if a better deal than Palace comes to the fore.

I don't think we will sign a striker in January.

You would like to think out of the three positions Roy wants to strengthen in, gk, cm, and striker! That one would be over the line early, which I suspect would be a keeper as signing someone's number 2 should be a little more simple. That said and done you never know.

Some might say we already have a number 2 as goalkeeper...

Wonder if Freedman as DoF will help.

Freedman undoubtedly will help.
I am going to suggest a way after this transfer window to him and SP which hopefully will mean that we looking at a larger number of candidates than we currently have. I hope Steve Parish has already got the idea from my friend who spoke to him about this of who we should buy, posting it on here could be counter-productive. Hoping it happens and if not, we have 10 at least strikers lined up at reasonable prices to buy so that we end the window with three with Wickham returning. |

The Evening Standard quote Hodgson saying:
"We have only got one recognised centre-forward in Chrstian Benteke. Bakary Sako was signed as a winger. "We have only got two goalkeepers in the club, which I don't think is anywhere near enough for Premier League football. We saw what happened when Wayne Hennessey had a back spasm the other day at West Brom. "In central midfield we don't have enough cover, and with Luka Milivojevic out we find ourselves shorter there. "Those are the positions we would like to strengthen and cover." So there we have it, GK, ST and a CM. This seems sensible for this window. Everyone is painfully aware of how badly a badly a new striker and goal-keeper are. CM might come as a surprise, but it seems for now Hodgson only trusts Milivojevic, Mcarthur and Loftus-Cheek. It's possible we'll be without three of those four players next season. I suspect people will want a new LB and another winger, but to solve all your problems in one window is a tall order. I agree these are the priority positions, let us hope we have those deals in place early on. |

The CM position is absolutely vital as we are vulnerable there. There is not enough forward movement and we lack more steel and bite. Look at how many 50-50 balls we lose every game and those are game changers. We also need some different options coming off the bench and with Puncheon being done there is very little behind Luka and Cabaye.
I'd actually look for two strikers, one to compliment and challenge Benteke and one maverick type to come off the bench with 25 mins to go.

He's certainly not getting many compliments at present.

The loss of Sakho all be it for a few weeks is going to be a big loss due to the balance he gives to the defence, but i do think we have got players to cover.
What is going to be far more urgent is to focus on the areas of priority, IF we decide to sell CB then TWO Strikers will a Must, Goalkeeper, also an additional creative midfielder would be a real bonus now especially with the uncertainty over the future of Cabaye and McArthur and possibly even RLC, we need to plan ahead and not be caught out in the run in. |

Klaasen at Everton is surely worth a punt.
