New Keeper

TFM
Sakho
Smalling
PVA

Luka
Ward Prowse
RLC

Wilf
Sako
Benteke

Bench:
Speroni, Tomkins, Schlupp, Townsend, Gray, Niasse, Cabaye/McArthur

Is a serious squad. Doesnt even include Hennessey, Ward, Wickham, Dann, Puncheon, Ridewald, Kelly.
Ok maybe i am being slightly optimistic about the 50m budget, but as i say if it means buying Now when it is needed to ensure our premiership status, it then means we dont need to spend silly in the summer as we will have the players in place, so your total net spend is no different.
As you rightly say that would be some squad for a change, and would ensure we would not struggle as per norm every season, where i will disagree with you would be is Gray in place of Sako.

I am not sure it would need 70/80m and 350k p.w? but if we are to stop being perennial strugglers then we must show ambition, unfortunately the days of 10m players only buys you championship players at best.
Also as i said previously if spent in this window would ensure we stay up, and with the new stand not too far away premiership football is a must. But also there would not be the need to spend much in the summer window, which then balances itself out.

Unfortunately as a club for whatever reason we dont go for the obvious talent thar is infront of ours. Sometimes 1 player is enough.

For us Joe Allen or Mark Albrighton for example would transform our team massively. One a box to box energetic goalscoring midfielder, the other a serious asset with the abjlity to put the quality in that Benteke needs

Good shout, but I thought Joe Allen is bound for West Ham. I very much doubt Swansea will sell him though.

Oh, let's just not buy anyone. Let's just let natural wastage do its thing, and in the meantime, count the money until we're relegated.

Our transfer dealings are summed up by Stoke strengthening their squad by signing a new player and they don't have a manager.

Would be excellent work if we could land these 4 who we have been linked with
GK Guaita
CB/DEF MID Amadou
ATT MID Gaitán
STR Babacar

Could get those for around 30m with Gaitán on loan or just over 40m with him signed permanently. Get rid of some deadwood and we’re laughing.

we were very lucky with luca ( and it was a great credit to him) last year in how he hit the ground running when he had no previous premier league experience.

if you get someone at the end of jan without premier league experience and/or recent match experience then it may take them a few games to adjust

by the first few days of feb this year (4th) its 26 games gone and only 12 games left for the transferred players to make a difference

It really is. They have needed a right back all season and signed one as soon as the window opened. If only we could do that... Still, we live in hope.

Guaita is €4m
Amadou is apparently £16m
Babacar no fee mentioned but i’d Imagine £10-15
And the Atlético winger is a loan

So £50m is a little OTT

i was thinking along similar lines except i'm not convinced about Gaitan (mixed reports) - less so about Babacar, (who has definitely turned into our new Nuge)...

wouldn't it be nice if in about a weeks time we had signed:

GK - Guaita from Gatafe
CB/DM - Amadou from Lille
ST - Niasse from Everton

i actually think Roy would be chuffed if we ended up with these 3, they would probably all feature straight away in the match day squad, they are all at the right age and won't break the bank (seeing as we were the highest spenders last January)...

Transfer fees are one thing. Wages and on-going contracts are the issue here.

You don’t pay a £10m fee and that’s it...

Few transfers these days involve the managers.
