I reckon we will get the princely total of one player.

That is unless we get battered at Southampton and the grown-ups hit the panic button.

Twist or stick time.

We aren't in the relegation zone despite giving others a seven game head start and chucking away four to six points.

If it were your money would you buy these five players now or, based on current form, gamble on the six to wins we need to survive with substantially the same roster?

There is an argument we've either been too good of late (or those around us have been really bad).

I can only think we would get close to that if other players go and I can't see who we can shed right now. The problem being that we need to either shed big wages to redeploy or make a profit on a player that can count towards income. It's not a cashflow issue (think) but more likely an STCC problem. So I have to say I am leaning towards the thought that we won't add any real quality at all. Maybe a cheap lower league punt or a desperate older player willing to sign for low wages (Watson etc). Suspect that is why Roy has adjusted his comments being an old pro instead of hanging out the board to dry but saying it is essential to bring in 3 or 4.

Forget Brighton game, benteke should be nowhere near the team for that. Jules or Wayne fine.

Then we’ve got 2 games, Burnley and arsenal. It would be nice to have a couple in for those but not a huge premium.

It’s worth a modest premium to have players in and settled, ie.. had some time training with Roy for the West Ham and Newcastle games on the 30th and 3rd.

Be nice.. but not at a staggering premium before that, especially as we may now need a cb that wasn’t planned or budgeted for

Twist time imo. In any case, all it would be doing is addressing the mistakes we made in January by not signing a new keeper and at least one striker especially. We should only need two players but we had a dreadful summer transfer window so we've left ourselves exposed. We need to make amends asap to give a roy and the players a good chance of staying up. At the moment I think it's 50/50 whether we stay up or not but 3-4 quality signings would make it closer to 70-30.

Not sure why you think this given we didn't spend much in the summer and we tried to sign a keeper and striker but they fell through at the last minute. Parish himself said we had some powder left dry for January. I can see us spending well as we usually do in January - ie because we often don't do enough in the summer and leave ourselves short most years.

If there are any willing buyers, then I can see us selling PvA, Mutch and Lee.

According to the FYP pod the Niasse was reliant on the Board funding it with their own cash (i.e. which gets you around STCC) so there can’t be much lying around. Plus all the noises are setting very low expectations. Obviously that isn’t conclusive but it’s likely the case.

Think our budget has to stretch for an extra player now

Think we’ll sign

GK
CB
CM
ST

Personally would look at a European loan to cover centre back or midfield free upmaome money for decent striker and a good keeper

If dann is out for the season we will need another CB which considering how many we had is unreal.

I'm baffled by where our budget has gone if this is the case. Presumably we are over-paying on wages. Too many average players earning huge money. If only we could move some on to free up wages for incoming signings...

This summer is a big one if we stay up. So many players out of contract so will be a lot more room for manoeuvre

What are the chances of Wolves sticking their neck out & making a move for Sako? Returning hero & all that cobblers.

New owners are in bed with Jorge Mendes so can bring in Portuguese wonderkids from teams like Porto, Benfica and Monaco. No way they’d go for soon to turn 30 Sako. Wouldn’t be surprised if another championship club were interested though, albeit with wage cut demands.

Definitely. If we can just stay up then some good recruitment will put us in a great place. Although the big cloud on the horizon of course is what happens with Wilf. I really hope we can keep him for another season at least but we'll be put under big presssure to sell.
