80% of the old notes had traces of cocaine on them so these were made to wet wipe.

Was that what it was? I'd forgotten all about them until they came into circulation over here. I initially thought I'd been given toy money and had to have it all explained to me very slowly and in great detail by the barman.

I was a bit drunk.

I haven't seen plastic nordie money since as it goes.

A guy I know is currently doing a petition (over 138,000 have signed to date) over the fact the new notes contain animal fat in the form of tallow. He feels this is unacceptable to millions of vegans, vegetarians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains etc and has been backed to the hill should this go further. For him, this was also about freedom of choice.

I heard that it was the tallow from 2 cows used for the entire production run on millions of notes.
Bloody snowflakes.

I'm using pound notes for the first time in years at the moment and these feel weird. Like toy money.

This was done when the new fiver came out, the Bank of England thought about it for a few days, and then decided the petition didn't have legs, just like the cows used in the manufacturing process.
