RLC is waste out wide offensively and is poor defensively, but still is played there week after week.

And for this game against the pace of Arsenal, TFM should have come in for Kelly.

Agreed (of course TFM should start every game at RB)

The lack of communication between the back four and Speroni is actually quite scary. Tomkins in particular seems to just ignore his calls and just do his own thing. There's a lack of trust there.

Tell me which one of those Benteke evidenced last night ? And you can throw RLC in there as well if you want
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a massive Benteke fan and I understand your frustration. I'm happy to throw RLC into that bracket because of where he plays on the park - no passengers required. However, with Benteke we purchased a "target man" so you have to supply him and frankly despite our ability to get the ball into the deep flank positions we are sooo slow to a) deliver a decent cross and b) get supporting runners into the box. Perhaps if Benteke threw the toys out the pram more often, we would think he cares more?

I love what Wilf brings but I'd like to see the occasional first time delivery.

I’m not sure Worksop is suggesting they need to run like headless chickens. Rlc is very classy on the ball but for a midfielder in a team like palace his work rate of the ball is not acceptable - so many times you see him jogging back whilst Luka, cabaye and Townsend are busting a gut.

Benteke was clearly asked to not high press their defence so no criticism there. However his all round play was pretty ordinary last night and apart from a couple of decent games after the penalty miss his performances have been appalling. His goal scoring last year enabled us to overlook the limitations in his all round play, especially his lack of pace and apparent lack of the same desire and passion others show. This year has been a catalogue of missed sitters (he could have had 4 or 5 v Leicester) and the penalty debacle. To me, and clearly many others, he doesn’t finish the game looking shattered, like he has given everything he can to the cause- which without the goals is inexcusable.

Therin lies the problem. For £30 million we thought we were moving up into the big boys league and buying one of the hottest strikers in the prem - a youngish, big, strong, pacey front man, good finisher with both feet, creates goals from nothing, great goal scoring record in a poor villa team, lost his way at Liverpool but still scored goals including a sensational over head kick.

What we have got is a decent target man, without the pace to go past any defender, who doesn’t display the passion and energy of strikers of limited talent like long, Okazaki or even Ashley Barnes ffs, who has missed many easy chances and broken rank be taking a penalty away from Luka and missing lamentably yet again.

I think the problem is that we only have benteke. If we had a workhorse who we could bring on with 20 mins to go to hustle and bustle the defenders I think we'd. E less critical of beneteke. As it is, he's our only option and is far from perfect. We see all the negatives in him and are unable to mix it up. His poor form this season is then exacerbated by the inability to look to anyone else

Short memory, we beat The Arse last time at SP because Ward had Sanchez in his pocket.

Take Sanchez out of last night's how does it go then?

The crime here is that we have never replaced Mariappa.

The defensive problems are Dann. He's so poor these days. Kelly was never going to have a good game against Sanchez.

We had ample chances to clear the ball for two goals and failed.

TBH I was a bit annoyed to see Kelly against Sanchez as he skinned him last year at the Emirates. It was a known issue.

TFM would have been a better option, Sanchez isn't physical just wriggly I think that would have suited TFM more.
