I wish people would stop suggesting managers that are doing well for their current clubs Rafa/Houghton/Howe/Dyche etc aren't going to come at this stage of a season are they?

Actually, with benteke up front, lively wingers and capable defenders that can't defend in this side, big fat Sam would be a good fit. Much like pulis was what we needed, Bfs would suit these players. Up for it? Don't know.

As it is I think we need to next 5 games. 7 points minimum and a ******* clean sheet. Fail that and I might be giving up on pards

Honest question, why are we better than big Sam?

In my view, he would improve our defending at least 50% and have us comfortably 10 to 12th in the league. I would be really happy with that as I don't buy into this top 8 euro places chat. I think we are some seasons from that level.

Is Alan going to set us up to be solid at Burnley, so we grab a point or nick all three away to a team coming off the back of two very good performances?

I'd be about as excited as BFS coming to us as I was with him being appointed the England manager, utter underwhelming when there were far better candidates, WH fans couldn't wait to get rid of him, surely we can do better then keep appointing "relegation escape specialist" managers?

There's no way that we're going to sack a man after backing him in the transfer market and giving him 50m to spend.

But even if we do sack him, we're not going to appoint someone who is already at another club. We'd have to pay a lot to Pards as severance, and then we'd also have to spend a lot to whatever club we're trying to get their manager from.

Back the manager. We're 12th in the league and have a decent Premier League squad. Plenty of negatives with Pardew, I agree, but we could be a hell of a lot worse. I bet Swansea and Sunderland fans would rather be in our position than theirs, and they're more established in the Premier than us.

10th place finish, FA Cup Final, and players like Benteke and Cabaye playing for us and giving Pardew as their main reason for joining. Pards has a lot of flaws, and I never go to home matches anymore thinking we're going to win, but he's going nowhere so we need to support him.

But I've already said the above a few times on different threads, so I doubt this will change the minds of the BBS.

And to say this is worse than the Taylor era is pure insanity.

I agree with your last sentence.

But 10th place.. by APs admission that was pulis' team that he kept going
FA cup final - we lost
Yes we have far better players now which I could only but imagine would be playing for us but we are worse in terms of performances and results.
12th in the league at the moment but 4 points off the 'doomed' hull.. with a shit Run in.. we won't be 12th if continue our form.. which let's be honest has lasted 12 months now.

I agree with you it's unlikely he will be sacked as SP really seems to like him.

For me I can't find reasons to keep him anymore

I just don't think he's what we need.
He's a crisis man, brought in to underwhelming squads to keep them up.
We're not in a crisis/freefall, we are just not getting the best out of the squad. I also think he's finished after the England job and will never be the same. Players just won't respect him.

We need someone with bigger ambitions then 4 defenders, keep it tight and hope Defo scores. Don't get me wrong we need to go back to basis, but losing Pape is hurt us more than we can imagine. Someone's for players to look up to and inspire them, BFS is not that.

Any new manager would be on a hiding to nothing given that mid table isn't good enough for you lot.

If we could defend wed have lost that game 2-0 and he'd still be a ****.

Fair enough mate.

FWIW I hope AP turns it round, just not convinced at all that he will. I know its only Oct/Nov, but with our defence, our end of season run-in gives me the fear!

If it was another club outside the big 6 I'd say how ridiculous if their fans were for wanting to change the manager when they're midtable.
I always thought we were a bit different, but no we have the same knee-jerk reaction fans, the same nothing's good enough fans, the same criticize everything and everyone fans, the same sense of entitlement fans as every other club.

It doesn't matter how much money a manager has spent in a window, if it appears that he isnt getting the required performances out of these players than evasive action has to be taken, look at the money ManUre have spent? if their run continues JM will be fired, I agree with in part with the rest though

From a financial viewpoint, and irrespective of last season's form, I'd like to think after backing a manager with 50m to spend on transfers that Parish would give him more than 10 league games to integrate the new players into his lineup and develop the style of play.

A new manager may not like any of the players in the squad and demand another 50m from Parish, which isn't a healthy way to run a club.

As I said, there are plenty of flaws with Pardew. Defensively we look appalling, set pieces at both ends of the pitch are shoddy at best, and our attacking threat still seems to revolve around giving the ball to Wilf and seeing what he does.

Another 10 games will give us more of an indication of whether he should stay or not, and shouldn't throw away our season. If after the next 10 games nothing has changed, then sack him.

Yes. Champions league.

Stats to suit your agenda. Im not bothered about 2015 as much as im no longer interested in last season. All that is important is this season. People have got bored having had not had much to moan about recently.

You're all insane. Thankfully the man in charge is sane. And has a great skill in knowing the right time to change manager.

I can see there are just two problems currently. Lack of clean sheets and home form. Anyone reacting to yesterday about those two things against Liverpool don't have realistic expectations given their form - and they had dismantled Arsenal in a similar fashion. And anybody expecting a clean sheet and win against man city also need their heads testing. But am sure they'll be on here moaning that aguero conjured some magic and it's Pardews fault.

I don't believe that Pardew would be forced out until we are in serious trouble in the league. The plan is to stay in the league to fund the stadium re-build and build the fanbase, so as long as we look safe he's fine.

But for discussion's sake, there's a list of available managers here:

Interesting names include Mancini, Hiddink and Vilas-Boas. Not convinced we could attract any of them, but Parish has done a great job of selling the club in the past.
