that's fair enough, but you listen to hip-hop/r n b I would guess and when a lot of the proper trance (not the stuff on top of the pops) was being made you were still at school. Chances are you would've been off ya tits listening to Hardfloor had you been born 10 years earlier

You're probably right! I was far too young when this scene was around in the early 90's

PS

For the record I am not into R&B!

I'd completely forgot about that until you mentioned it! The first tune (may even be 2 full moons and a trout) on the cd is one of the most amazing tunes i've heard!

As for this 'trance is gay' stuff, well if you're thinking Gatecrasher, kids wearing luminous make-up and sucking dummy's then yes. But there is a whole world of trance that is so different to that.

I'll have to see what they are.

Red Herring, Cactus, Lollipop ( I think it's called ) and Fromage Frais are all excellent.

Went to a club Techno called 'Kinetic' back in my Uni days ( 1994/95 ), in Wolverhampton.
Some bloke called the 'Music Maker' ( I think ), was doing a set in some weird mirrored jacket - not really what I'm into but good anyway.

Been to some right f*cked up nights in London. Megatripolis at 'Heaven' was brilliant, went to some New Years Eve Pagan Party where they were handing out shots of home made hippy acid was...interesting. Went to some ambient/trance night at the Brixton Academy - that was superb.

I loved the commercial tracks the best - my faves are probably:

Cafe del Mar - Energy 52
1999 - Binary Finary
For an Angel - Paul van Dyk
3 Drives on a Vinyl - Greece 2000
Silence - Delirium

My word there's a name from the past! I remember him from my days inside Helter Skelter's Technodrome from 96 onwards. Certainly weren't playing trance though, just some of the most twisted ••••ed up gabba and speedcore. Still all good fun mind

None of those were actually commercial when they first appeared though, pretty sure all were picked up by bigger labels. binary fianrys paul van dyk remix was on Aquarius records, a tiny label. 3 Drives are on Massive Drive out of Holland......
