Not that quick off the mark and doesn’t beat a man much these days, couldn’t carry us up the pitch like Wilf does.

TBH he'll be impossible to replace because he's just too good for us! but if I was him, given the chance I'd be tempted to go to somewhere like Spain, think he'd get a little bit more protection from refs and he wouldn't have lumps kicking out of him every week.

Not sure that I would be happy dealing with any club out of Liverpool as we tend to get badly stitched up by scousers.
£30m for Bolasie was hardly a stitch-up, though I sense that should be another debate in itself...

Tonge

A place in Leicestershire, also the name of a particularly clumsy and dense but likeable cheese factory worker - the term 'Tonge', since 1987, became a way of calling someone an ass or a fool, but in a warm and friendly way...

If he were to move, a move to Atletico would certainly be the least of evils from my point of view.

I've seen him play a couple of times for Leipzig on the telly and he looked very good. I'd like another winger, especially as Wilf does take a few knocks.

The opposition all have a Zaha plan. On Saturday every time he got the ball the three nearest Liverpool players all raced towards him, Huddersfield, Bournemouth et al are less subtle and just kick the crap out of him but all sides have a very clear plan. Even AJ, Wright and Armstrong didn't get this sort of treatment.

Which is why every game we should start with another winger as the opposition targeting Wilf allows space for others. If Townsend is injured we don't play with another and therefore we need 3 wingers in the squad at all time in case Wilf or Townsend are injured. And I don't mean the the like of Lee as back-up. Lookman would do the job well.

Lookman would be good competition for Townsend, Wilf, Sako and whoever else is around next year. Be it Champ or Prem, Lookman would be handy for us and the fee may differ if we are relegated, how much did Bournemouth pay for Ibe?

If Wilf does leave, try to get Bolasie back.
Evertonians aren’t too convinced by him, and I reckon a £20 million bid might tempt them.

Nobody will replace Wilf. Tbh if he goes in the summer and we replace him with someone like Lookman but then don't properly invest in the rest of the squad, we will probably go down. We'll definitely be in a relegation battle again.

It will be a Wright to Arsenal moment. We can't replace Wilf and whoever we sign will be on a hiding to nothing. Lookman, Redmond, Phillips, even Bolasie would be as good as it gets.

It will be if our scouts are as unimaginative as that. We need another winger whether Wilf leaves or not. If he does we need 2.

29 in two months and just back from a horror injury. I think better to target a younger player for the winger position.

I agree. With any hero player there is a myth that builds borne of every awesome performance over the years that followers then have to measure against in each 90 mins but add to that the fact that Wilf has a ridiculous level of ability and a fairly unique playing style that is probably impossible to replicate anyway. If Wayne has had trouble following Julie I can't imagine what a new winger might face trying to live up to the Wilf legacy. We should go for a wide forward instead who can compensate with cool finishing instead

Then again, if we get another spate of long lasting ligament injuries, maybe we should consider half a dozen to be safe!
