I don't think recruitment consultants are doing that well at the moment Al. I wouldn't start one up just at the moment.

Any guesses on the final cost? Initial estimate £1.5 billion, current estimate £9.3 billion with just under 4 years to go. I'd be surprised if the final figure is under £15 billion.
Seb Coe and Tessa Jowell should be dragged through the streets in chains and horsewhipped for this.

That only equates to 50 contractors / temporary workers a year for 3 years Al, roughly speaking. The agencies will still have to pay the workers.

I've just read the article properly Al - my point still stands, although this firm were clearly placing mostly high value consultants on day rates with the odd permanent placement thrown in, so doubtless not as many as 50 per year.

I can remember Red Ken stating at the time of the original costings that he had already factored in a percentage for over spend.

Personally will be out of the City, and the country, when the Olympics is on and in terms of what other schemes squander my Taxes I do not think the Olympics will rate too badly so am not that het up about it.

You are all miserable bstds - I love the fact the Olympics will be here and intend to go to as many of the events I can.

As for the cost. Well with the state of the economy then the huge boost in government spending that will result is probably just what London needs at the moment.

I dont disagree with about the boost to Londons economy but the Oympics are just like watching paint dry.

Yep; him, Seb and Tessa took us all for mugs so that we'd support it then completley revised the budget up when we'd won it.

I rememebr each saying time and again-the budget won't go up.

But they hoped we'd be blinded by this bollocks about what a 'great event' it would be. And it worked to an extent. They all lied to us but we're not supposed to care and if we do then we're 'miserable.'

I wouldn't buy a second hand watch from these three let alone put them in charge of a huge budget.

Its the way of all Government projects. And even the most negative of people must see that this will bring some benefits even if its only for the wider London economy.

There are far worse examples of Government wastage and at least this is London getting something back.
