I don't disagree but I would say that foreign kids behaving in restaurants is more linked to them being part of cultures in which families sit around dining tables, on a daily basis, so that when they go out the experience is nothing new and they know what is expected of them.

I suspect that British kids who behave badly in restaurants are kids who eat most of their meals without adults sitting down with them at home.

Foreign kids are just as noisy on a trampoline as British kids.

To be fair to your neighbours, Chiswick, if you come across to them like you do on this thread, I'd be positively encouraging my kids to make noise and wind you up.

You've not been to Italy much if you think British kids stand out as poorly behaved at the table the idea that they are anymore engaged or better behaved in such circumstances simply doesn't stand up in my experience. Like most things people generalise inaccurately about this. It seems to be a popular way of sounding like a ponce along with banging on about how the food in this country is rubbish. Which it isn't.

The only way of telling is by licking the yellow grass.

If it tastes of fox urine you will have your answer.

As you will if it does not taste of fox urine.

Mrs Gooders does nearly everything and it really doesn't take that much time. We have lived here for 15 years though and it certainly wasn't like that when we got here.

I just can't face yet another round of expensive and time-consuming preparation, seeding, turfing, etc. trying to nurture a small lump of grass in the back garden that just turns into a big muddy mush in just a few minutes of wear from kids playing football when the ground is slightly damp.

Artificial grass would be purely for functionality, but would still look better than a mud bath with a few tufts of green here and there.

My 'green' credentials would remain intact as I have a wide range of trees, bushes, beds, etc. that will continue to serve the wildlife.

I want my garden to be useable again, I want to be able to play table tennis on our table, and for the littlest one to have his mates round for a kick about.

I would need to watch out where I put the barbeque though I suppose!

The anti-social behaviour reference was to SS's comment about getting his kids to make noise and wind me up.

Encouraging children to purposefully wind up a neighbour is anti-social in my book. But I didn't suggest he get an ASBO.

Is it really that much effort to put a mower over a nice piece of lawn once a week, It wont do you any harm.
I work 6 days a week, do long hours and frankly have other activities I can be cracking on with on my solitary day off.

My garden is only about 5m x 4m and I plan to rent it out in a year or two when I buy something bigger, and no tenant is going to maintain a garden. It'll be functionable for me whilst I'm living here and then easy maintence for years to come.

Is the London housing market so bad these days that you can rent your garden out? Presumably, so someone can pitch a tent on it.

If anyone discovers artificial hair in the course of their enquiries i'd be interested in that too. Think I have a north-facing head or something.

Ebay has plenty of artificial turf for sale, but I dunno how much cop it is.
