Just like Cantona’s on pitch violence is all conveniently overlooked or forgotten. Several criminal incidents re stamping on players never gets mentioned.

Quite and It's okay for those Dullard United Moamie Bollox to taunt us over it every f****** time we meet. He should have been locked up because of the potential problems his action could have caused. A full bodied riot because he took offence at something that was said. W******. If I did that in my job I'd be sacked.

In other words, because a young England qualified player had just joined Manchester United, the England hierarchy were happy to overlook whatever difficulties had been experienced during the under 21 tournament. It was only once Zaha fell out of favour at United and ended up back at Palace that those difficulties become more of an illustration of his 'attitude problem' to be rehashed ad nauseum by the likes of Henry Winter in the press.

In a similar vein, Manchester United player Michael Carrick threw his toys out of the pram when asked to go on the standby list for Euro 2012 and refused to do so. Terrible attitude. Yet within 6 months he found himself captaining England in a World Cup qualifier, and the incident is never mentioned by the media except in a sympathetic light when he blamed it on 'depression' in his recent autobiography. Jimmy Hill.
Indeed. On the plus side, it does mean that the chances of Wilf returning to Old Trafford are slimmer than they might otherwise have been.

Imagine how much seeing 'Wilf 2018' in a red and white shirt would hurt....

Just a thought , will any of the other players feel they deserve a pay rise ? Luka , Andros , PVA , etc all critical to us - will they be thinking Wilf had new contract last year and again now . Wilf is probably the best Palace player I can recall ( I have been following Palace since early 70s ) but I am not sure what what real difference this new contract will make if one of the top six offer silly money for him .

Delighted Zaha has a 5 year deal!

My all time favourite Palace player now. I imagine a large portion of our fans would say the same, even those in old age!

Also delighted there is no release clause-assuming what I have read is true.

Totally agree. I hate Fergie and the Mancs but that man knew how to get the best out of young talent. He would have definitely got the best out of Wilf.
