The U16 goalkeeper for the first half today was only 14 years old.
7 of the starting line-up for the U18s were first-year scholars.

Pierick and Aviero are new names to me, what sort of players are they?

First few times I watched him I came to the conclusion that he's a throwback old fashioned target man CF due to his height, hold up play and ability in the air. But having seen him a bit more often now, I've noticed that he's more than that. He's also pretty good technically. Lovely little passes around edge of oppo area. And makes clever 5 yard runs across the pen area to find space. Also work hard closing down defenders. Like his attitude. Real handful at U18 level.

Pierick quick winger. Strong.
Aviero a small in stature ball player. All feints and dribbles. Played bit wider today. |

Pierrick can play anywhere across the three in a 4-2-3-1. Strong, quick, makes intelligent runs, is determined. His touch is excellent, he likes to run at his man. Haven't seen him cross the ball much, finishing can be worked on but he's an excellent prospect. TQ Addy was conspicuous by his absence today as he will be in the Under 23 side on Monday.
I think Pierrick will be the better all round player but Addy is an excellent winger. Rapid, loves to play on the counter attack, isn't bad at free-kicks. Brandon Aveiro has been on the radar for a few years already. England were watching him a couple of years ago. He broke his elbow in a school game at the back end of last season so missed the run-in having just broken into the U18 side. He is a nifty midfielder. No10 is his natural position so to speak. Loves to glide past players through tight spaces and is a good finisher. Reminds me an awful lot of Jonny Williams but a bit more attacking. Rated highly by Palace. But one of those who will drop out altogether if he doesn't make it. Has the same agent as Kian Flanagan who is his competition in the U23s which makes it a bit awkward.

U18s drew 1-1 away at Crewe earlier today. Rob Street's penalty cancelled out an early Crewe opener.
Only three second years in the line-up. Luthra; Russell, Hanson (2nd yr), Onoabhagbe (2nd yr), Chamberlin; Gurung (2nd yr) Malachi Boateng; Pierrick, Aveiro, Addy; Street

BSFC have loaned out two of their three GKs so perhaps it was only for a short period and Webber is expected to come in soon? Mark you Matte Pierson just left Tooting and I suspect he might be on his way to Whyteleafe EDIT: Checking the Stortford site I see the two younger GKs have been removed and replaced by a more experienced GK. Maybe the McCarthy loan at Whyteleafe is longer term after all Last edited by Timbo; 26-08-2018 at 02:09 AM. |
