He didn't get bullied by their back 4.
He won a lot of headers. He had very little service and was incredibly isolated for the first half. Just like Murray was at Norwich. There are also people on this thread who want Gayle to stay who are slagging Wickham's workrate... Are you on drugs? If he'd taken his chance, he'd have had the perfect centre forward's performance. Small margins.

Thought he looked good. Some of his link up play looked decent. Needs to add consistency but looked to trouble the defence more than Murray has. Some lovely footwork at times and could have scored. Excited to see how he improves.

There was a weird 5min spell in the second half where he pushed Cech into an Arsenal defender, then reached to try and palm a cross away from Mertesacker's head. Lucky to escape punishment for either, and strange decision making when we're chasing the game.
I was encouraged by his performance besides that, though. Still rather Murray but perhaps i'm too misty eyed. |

Thought he put in decent shift today......we will have more of the ball and supply to him will be better against the villa next week

Looked good i thought, but where Murray would win a free kick Wickham too often gives one away.
Needs to learn from Glenn. |

Weren't sold on him today. Early days yet though, would be unfair to judge him on one performance.

Hard to judge against a class team like arsenal however he did seem to keep drifting out to the wings a lot but time will tell would have liked to see bamford on at half time

People slagging off Wickham because he isn't as good as Murray in the box. Didn't he miss a much easier chance against them last year? Oh yes. Give the bloke a chance ffs.

Sauntered around the pitch. A few moments of a class but few and far between. Bring back Glenn!

How can you possibly say that if you watched the game today. He was very good. We often make early judgements about players based on little information. That's fine but you have to have the balls to react to the evidence in front of you and accept you are wrong when that's the case. The evidence today suggests you are wrong. |

Agree completely. I thought he was excellent. Just a shame he didn't take the chance. |

Not bothered either way really, but I'd rather have seen him come on than Bamford. |

He's strong, the jury's out on how good he is in front of goal, but deserved his start having shown more of a threat last week in 10 minutes than Murray, who had a poor game, did in 80.

Agree.. Think he played well. Won a lot of headers, held ball up well, lacks a little pace but makes up for it with strength. Unlucky not to score |

I was most impressed.

No, like I said above, I'm writing him off after approximately 17 games!
