Would have thought Adebayor would have been a better signing for Chelsea than Pato!

He's signed. Nothing to discuss until he plays.

I wish him the best, but if he doesn't hit the ground running and the team's poor form continues, how long before the accusations of someone putting juju on Palace start? |

To view the link you have to Register or Login To view the link you have to Register or Login This guy has got a point to prove and is much more likely to make that point with our backing. He has all the attributes and sounds hungry for it. Potentially we have an exceptional footballer on our hands with a couple more years of top flight football left in his legs. Well done to the club - hopefully this will be another bizarre, unpredictable chapter in the history of our recent success. |

So he might not be fit for his first game. Does that mean he goes on statutory sick pay and gets a hundred quid a week like the rest of it. FWATOM - fu$king Waste Of Tine And Money

I think it's going to be one extreme or the other: he'll either get loads of goals and it will all be well worthwhile or he's a total waste of money and/or he badly disrupts team spirit

From a poster on the Guardian:
Adebayor is the reverse Lallana. Lallana is a bad player with extremely positive media coverage and Adebayor is a very good player with a extremely negative media coverage. It is to do with the make up of the British media that lends to over criticism of African players. I remember the year Adebayor was almost killed in a terror attack and the media was criticising his form in that same year despite him scoring goals. If that was England International almost killed in a terrorist attack they would be far more sympathetic. At times I wonder whether the British press views Africans as humans because if they don't perform well every game they get criticised far more. Just look like Yaya Toure. I'm a Liverpool fan and Adebayor is a better player than Benteke, Carroll or any other target man forward in the league, but has extremely negative press. Adebayor is a languid player and the problem is the media perceive African players who are languid as lazy, but if a Berbatov has a languid style he view as a mercurial genius. I thinking stereotyping of Africans players in the media leads to how they are viewed and Adebayor is the worst victim of this. My personal annoyance is when commentators only describe Yaya Toure in terms of his physical attributes or just give him physical adjectives when he is one of the most intelligent and technical midfielders in the league. Adebayor could be the signing of the transfer window. Ignore the press he is a top player that has done well everywhere he has gone.

Just seen on Twitter that he has scored a debut goal for each English team he has played for. A goal for us on his debut will be a record.

Apparently the contract has a break clause and a renewal clause at the end of the season for another year....so there is no basis for your comment that he will leave...hence ill informed...you might want to consider giving him every incentive to do well and if he does stay on...its called supporting your team. |

Nah, far better this way. We can just fill in the blanks with whatever we would like to hear. Customisation is the name of the game.
For instance I am pretty sure I heard that he said - he was pleased to be at a club with such handsome looking fans and he felt humbled by our collective beauty. I think he said we looked pretty fit as he had seen us on Twitter. - that the mighty Eagles have always been his favourite club and he had preferred a move here previously but was forced to move to Real Madrid instead because Muzza could have kept him out of the side - I think he said something about the Pride of South London and that he was Glad All Over. And so on.

Knowing our luck this season he will score on his debut, run the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the opposing fans but pull up doing his hamstring.

On a serious note I am a bit worried that he might get a hammy early on which would be devastating.
