Bamford was and always will be Championship/league 1 rubbish. Ruben and Timothy are class. Just maybe one of the two will want to sign permanently like Sakho does.

It didn't really have a collar though! Only the home one did.

Because our academy is struggling to produce players that can make an impact, the only way we can replicate that value is by identifying young players like TFM and taking a risk by signing them to a permit deal with the price reflecting that risk. It would be worth doing with one or two players a season, would help keep our squad young and would actually show some long term planning. Last edited by Zulu84; 30-08-2017 at 04:54 PM. |

The pair of them would probably cost around 50-60M

Your assertions are based on nothing more than seeing a couple of games of Fosu Mensah. If you were willing to buy Fosu Mensah before the season began based on his "pedigree" there is no reason why you wouldn't have wanted to take a punt on bamford before he came on loan too. |

You think so? With the amount of youth/young players Chelsea for instance have they always seem to cut some free for great value.

It helps us as we have signed two players that wont have cost that much compared with transfers and are both U21 so dont take up a place in the 25 man squad, all quite low risk. Bamford and Remy would have been disastrous if we had signed them on fees, and what ever you say with hindsight, alot of people would have thought they were great sognings at the time. A year is a long time in football, if a player does a job for 8 games and keep us up they get worshiped, so a loan for a season is fine by me. |

But in regards to the test drive thing, if RLC for instance continues to perform and develop over the period of our test drive I very much doubt we will be able to afford to keep him. So our year test drive is probably going to put him out of our reach and make Chelsea if nothing else a lot of money for minimal investment or risk. Last edited by Zulu84; 30-08-2017 at 05:20 PM. |

Their wouldn't be much getting past that back line.

No your right, if only we played 4 at the back.

Spot on mate but that's if Tomkins doesn't injure himself stepping onto the pitch.

Full backs with plenty of pace and a pair of centre backs who can read the game.

Glad to see someone appreciate Schlupp and Tomkins over Pva and Dann. Shame our dickhead manager plays 3 at the back....still he'll be gone soon! |

Has to be a back four, you can still pass it out with a back four

Watching Netherlands go nowhere awkwardly passing it sideways and then giving it away, they look remarkably similar to us so far.
He must feel right at home. |
