Bamford was and always will be Championship/league 1 rubbish. Ruben and Timothy are class. Just maybe one of the two will want to sign permanently like Sakho does.

Exactly. Who's going to employ someone wearing a blue V neck over a collar?
Scandalous!

By your logic then, the only players we should not sign on loan is extremely expensive known premier league players that offer little actual value.

Because our academy is struggling to produce players that can make an impact, the only way we can replicate that value is by identifying young players like TFM and taking a risk by signing them to a permit deal with the price reflecting that risk. It would be worth doing with one or two players a season, would help keep our squad young and would actually show some long term planning.

Despite Bamford banging them in in the Championship? Fosu Mensah has barely played and there was very little to base his pedigree on as a whole.

Your assertions are based on nothing more than seeing a couple of games of Fosu Mensah.

If you were willing to buy Fosu Mensah before the season began based on his "pedigree" there is no reason why you wouldn't have wanted to take a punt on bamford before he came on loan too.

You think so? With the amount of youth/young players Chelsea for instance have they always seem to cut some free for great value.

It annoys me that Chelsea and Man U will get the benefit of that development and not us.
Try before you buy, what is wrong with that? That is what is happening with Sakho, and another example is Akè at Bournemouth.

It helps us as we have signed two players that wont have cost that much compared with transfers and are both U21 so dont take up a place in the 25 man squad, all quite low risk.

Bamford and Remy would have been disastrous if we had signed them on fees, and what ever you say with hindsight, alot of people would have thought they were great sognings at the time.

A year is a long time in football, if a player does a job for 8 games and keep us up they get worshiped, so a loan for a season is fine by me.

Just philosophical differences on how to use loans innit. And Remy wasn't a young player when we signed him, he fitted more the filling a hole with a known asset at the end of the window. And again, Sakho isn't really comparible because he was in that mold as well.

But in regards to the test drive thing, if RLC for instance continues to perform and develop over the period of our test drive I very much doubt we will be able to afford to keep him. So our year test drive is probably going to put him out of our reach and make Chelsea if nothing else a lot of money for minimal investment or risk.

A year in football is a long time in my opinion, so if that's the case so be it. we get to have a quality player for a year. You say we should develop our own, but who in our youth team would come close to Loftus-Cheek in his position and ability? (Maybe Dreher when he grows up)

Spot on mate but that's if Tomkins doesn't injure himself stepping onto the pitch.

Full backs with plenty of pace and a pair of centre backs who can read the game.

Agreed.

Glad to see someone appreciate Schlupp and Tomkins over Pva and Dann.

Shame our dickhead manager plays 3 at the back....still he'll be gone soon!

Watching Netherlands go nowhere awkwardly passing it sideways and then giving it away, they look remarkably similar to us so far.
