Joniesta, when fit was rightly a fans favourite. Not sure you can say he has done bugger all. His performance in the first away win at Amex was class.

I would rather see a young player and see if he can be up to standard. Lee will do well in a non contact game where defending is not as important he has a great engine and is very good with the ball.

We've already given some opportunities to a few youngsters (kai kai, Lokilo) and the almost unanimous view was that they weren't good enough. Given that Kai Kai was seemingly one of the higher rated ones, I'm not sure we can/will be risking any others.

Key term being ‘when fit.’ You could probably count the amount of great games he’s had in a Palace shirt on two hands.

He's probably had more good games for Wales than for Palace!

I think Williams was more of a fan favorite based on what we all thought he would be, rather than what he was at the time. He had great games and he also had games where he got dominated, just like all young players learning their craft.

Meh, I was being generous to appease his fan club. One hand.

Sadly Lee has only had one moment in his entire Palace career of note, i doubt he will have a second one.

Just like Roy said in the press conference yesterday, he's contracted to the club so he'll play as and when we need him.

If due to our injury problems Chungy gets a chance to play, great. We don't exactly have a lot of options.

It was, but that was 5 years ago, he has had no impact since we have been promoted at all

Had form for moaning about Pardew. Then was named as one of the anti de Boer brigade (not exactly hard mind you!), and sealed his fate with that brilliant through ball away at Burnley.
Seems to have a bit of form for speaking out of turn.

Problem with CYL is he's too lightweight to hold off defenders and he's not technically good enough or quick enough to get away from them.
At this level he's a pretty poor luxury player (probably also true in the championship tbh). Sure he'd do well in loads of leagues around Europe which aren't as intense. |

Don't really understand that point as CYL has only ever been a fringe player here too. Think JW would have had those chances if it had not been for injuries and he has had several loans where the niggly injuries have continued too. For JW the problems never seem to go away and he must be what 24/25 by now

He's made the preliminary South Korea squad for Russia. I think over there its being treated as quite the surprise inclusion.

Roy mentioned that he had spoken to the Manager about how good a player he was. TBH his opinion probably travels better abroad than it does here.

Roy's opinion is highly valued. That's why why he was a hero at west brom, Fulham and now Palace. Oh and all the stuff at foreign clubs. Why would the manager of South Korea NOT value Roy's opinion. Jeez....

Have we learnt nothing from Wan Bissaka this season? No loan spell and not hugely talked about. Then does this. Many other players are raved about and do not do it when given a chance. My overall point has always been that signing average squad players does not work most of the time. Players like Mutch and Lee shone when at a lower Prem club but in a certain system as the main man with momentum week in week out. Without those latter circumstances, a younger who is super hungry who puts in huge effort offers as much and keeps others on their toes/pumps them up. Neville has said this many times as has Scowcroft recently too. Soares proved this too as he was no world beater and would not have excelled out on loan but offered more than many senior signings. I would refer people to: To view the link you have to Register or Login for more discussion on the topic and to avoid repeating myself too much. Either sign a player to go into the first 11 (which pushes someone to the bench so makes squad stronger) or don't bother generally. |
