Mike Dean = Hillsborough hero!

Was hoping for Kelvin Morton but Dean will do.

At least we didn't get Clattenberg.

Mike Dean is a decent ref and he was good in the games for us last season

Best ref in the league. Keep it up Michael.

Could have done with a ref that favours the "big" established premier league teams for this one
Typical we get a fair ref!

One of few likeable referees. If only we had him at Wembley in 2016...

Let's hope he hasn't got a 'soft spot' for Fulham like a lot of people have.

Match officials appointed for Matchweek 1
As usual I thought he did a very good job. Could have given Fulham a penalty, and Palace's second goal benefited from him playing the advantage when AWB was clearly fouled and in the build up. Take note Mr. Clattenburg!

I've just watched the goals again on Palace TV. Much has been made of the excellent use of advantage after AWB was fouled, but allowed to play-on and set up Wilf for the goal - but has anyone noticed the referee as he realises that his excellent decision has allowed the goal to be scored. He wheels away, almost as if he had made the finishing touch.
We possibly don't give enough credit to referees when they make good, split-second, decisions like that which enhance the game - so despite possibly getting the earlier penalty decision wrong, he deserves a lot of praise for that one and his moment of self-congratulation. |
