Well yes, but if there is another * it’s wanting to beat Man Utd this year after a gap of about 27 years (in the league). |

Weaker you say. I don't think so. My opinion, is about as good as yours. Bollocks.

Still think the first XI is weaker. But we will finish higher than last season. Hopefully 6th or 7th

In fairness, you take Cabaye out the side and on paper, it's weaker. However, that's not to say the team won't perform better as a unit without him in it.

We can't judge our first X1 against last season until we see how the new signings fit in and perform.

Meyer will be better than cabaye. Kouyate not Bette than rlc. Ayew better than Sako.

BUT the first XI is still weaker. Anyone care to argue the opposite post the Liverpool match after crashing back to reality?

Whilst I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you that the first 11 is weaker. It’s a bit unfair to gauge that game last night as to how well our transfer window was. We played against arguably the 2nd best team in the division and essentially lost by a dodgy pen - the last goal is irrelevant and we played with 10 men for the last 20 minutes of the match. Remember, we also lost home and away to Liverpool last season with Yo and RLC here. |

Overly dramtic. We lost to them last season, so hardly a 'crash' back to 'reality' whatever that part means.

And actually of course, we lost to Liverpool last season with a virtually similar team, only Cabaye and Kelly were changes. So hardly evidence last night that the XI is weaker.

I would also add that free transfers in the form of Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and others are still available if the club decides we didn't do quite enough business to replace them during the transfer window. Obviously Meyer is the interesting 'potential'. We did good business with Kouyate hopefully too. To view the link you have to Register or Login (Obviously dependant on a fringe player leaving though).

I'd eventually like to see... Guaita AWB Tomkins Sakho PvA Milivojevic Kouyate Meyer Townsend Ayew Zaha The Henn doesn't deserved to be dropped just yet and Kouyate and Luka might be better swapped, but that is potentially as good a team as last season in my eyes. |

We normally start a campaign slowly and that is one of our problems not who is in the team.

The main problem in the summer was our inability to sell any players for a decent fee. With the money available it was a pretty good window but not selling Benteke and replacing him with a more mobile forward was always going to be our Achilles heel for this season. |
